Chapter 8
< 6 Days left until the Wedding >

"Why the hell are we going cake testing?" Nicky grumbled as she stuffed her foot into a boot, tying up her laces as Codi looped on a belt. The brunette's socks having Wolverine's suit as the design.

"Because my mother and father got stuck with some crap, so we have to take their place."

"I'd much rather hang out with Woo-girl and your grandmother. They're way more fun." Nicky sighed as she tied up her other boot before pulling up the sleeves of her red henley v-neck, Codi putting on scuffed blue converse. The royal blue shoes complimenting Codi's red and white raglan shirt, the pokemon, Mew, floating at the center of the shirt.

"Woo-girl?" She asked, the blonde rising to her feet and heading to the dresser. She placed a silver band ring on her left middle finger before putting on a necklace with a kanji as the pendant.

"Your cousin. She's fucking crazy but fun, thus she's a Woo-girl."

"How do I look?" Nicky finished, Codi looking her over and grinned softly.

"Soft butch."

"And you look like a gay gamer." The blonde countered, Codi's brow furrowing as she looked at herself and clicked her tongue.

"...You're not wrong." She agreed as they headed out of the hotel room.

"Come on, the sooner your brother and ex pick a cake they sooner we can get back in this room." The taller of the two hummed while they walked towards the elevator, Codi pressing the button and letting them enter it.

"So desperate to get back in bed, huh?"

"More so desperate to get you in the bed." Nicky teased and making the brunette sigh as she pressed the ground floor button.

That one wasn't even worth smacking the blonde.

"Why're there so many cake flavors? 'Coffee and Cream and Banana Foster red Velvet'...What the fuck.?" Nicky whispered, Codi looking up from her book in order to look at the blonde.

"You made that up." She huffed, Nicky rising from her crouch and pointed at the spoken cake with exasperation.

"Look it!"

"...Why on Earth would someone combine such flavors? Who would want that for a wedding?!"

"That's what I'm sayin'!" Nicky agreed, crouching down in front of the cake display once more. Codi sighed as she shook her head before turning her attention back to her book.

"This totally beats the bloomin' onion, by the way."

"Mac and Cheese cupcake." Codi countered easily while turning to the next page, Nicky grumbling at the swift rebuttal.

"Honestly, you Americans just love frying stuff, huh?"

"More like we love dying from high cholesterol." The blonde grumbled as the door to the bakery opened with a soft chime and made her look over her shoulder, Lucas grinning at her.

"Sorry, we're late! Got caught up with picking what flowers would be the centerpieces. It's hibiscus, by the way." Lucas chuckled as he moved to clap his hands on Codi's shoulders.

"Shake me and I'll break your nose." Codi warned, her eyes never leaving her book as she turned to another page. Lucas chuckled once more, it being hesitant while Nel looked at the shorter brunette with a curious expression.

"Come on, baby sister! You wouldn't ruin my beautiful face days before my wedding."

"I broke it before, Lucas. I can break it again."

"You did?" Nicky chuckled while Lucas stepped away from his sibling and stuffed his hands into his pockets.

"He decided to tickle me. I decided to kick his face." Nicky laughed loudly at the answer while Lucas glared at the cakes. Nel looking between Nicky and Codi.

"Could'a just told me to knock it off, ya know. Took two bloody surgeries to fix the damn thing."

"I did tell you to 'knock it off'." Codi sighed, looking up from her book in order to look at the couple-to-be.

"We're not here for petty arguments. We're here to see which cake you two want."

"You're right. Shall we get started then?" Nel finally spoke up, Lucas huffing softly through his nose while Nicky rose from her crouch. The blonde standing a couple inches taller than the brunette.

"Let's." Nicky agreed, her smile showing a bit too much teeth.

Codi eyed the sheer violation of a cake slice from its spot at the center of the table, Nicky tapping a key-lime slice with the prongs of her fork.

"So which one's an absolute No from the start?" Lucas asked them, all three of the women looking at the cake slices at the center. He plucked the cake's name-tag and arched a brow as he read it.

"'Coffee and Cream and Banana Foster Red Velvet'...Wha?"

"Thing sounds worse than Hawaiian Pizza." Nel encouraged, her fiancé letting out a noise of agreement.

"Tell me about it! Americans create the craziest things."

"Canadian actually." Codi spoke up, Lucas and Nel looking to her while Nicky simply cut off a piece of the key-lime and placing it on her fork. The brunette's hands bunching up her pants' material.

"Hawaiian Pizza. It was invented by a Canadian."

"Ya learn something new everyday, huh?" Nicky hummed as she brought the key-lime towards Codi. The brunette blinked but took the offering, Nel arching a brow at the two of them.

"How's it taste?" Nicky asked, Codi's nose crinkling for a moment.

"Way too tart for me. Though, I'd think you like it Lucas."

"Nah, it's gotta be something everybody'll wanna eat. Oh, what about coconut?" Lucas explained, his own fork pointing at the coconut creme slice.

"Nel's allergic to coconut."

"I'm allergic to Coconut."

Codi and Nel told him at the same time, Nicky and Lucas looking to each other and then to their respective partners. Codi clearing her throat awkwardly while she grabbed her own fork and stabbed it into the white chocolate raspberry.

"I'm surprised you remembered."

"Why wouldn't I? You were my friend at one point." Codi grumbled, Nel brow furrowing a bit as she crossed her arms and leaned them against the table.

"You were the one that left without so much as a text." Nel countered, the shorter brunette's grip on her fork tightening to the point her knuckles turned white before she sighed and took a bite out of her cake.

"You seem to have gotten along just fine without me." Codi stated softly after swallowing the piece and let out a soft hum of content before grabbing another piece and offered it to Nicky. The blonde looking to her friend, while Nel looked down at the table.

"This one's pretty good. Nicky, try."

Lucas gently nudged his fiancé's side only for her to ignore him and reach for a random cake slice while Nicky took the offered bite and placed an arm over Codi's shoulders as she leaned towards her ear.

"Didn't know you were so feisty." Nicky whispered.

"It's attractive." She chuckled before brushing her lips against Codi's cheek.
