Afrah's POV

"Ouch!" I groan to myself when I drop a glass to the floor, cutting my finger slightly. My hand is soon taken by somebody who suddenly appeared in front of me. He grabs a tissue and carefully dabs it over the blood in my finger and plasters the wound with a small and circular plaster. "You took long," I lift my head up to look at Junaid.

"Why are you still up?" He brings one of the tulip chairs next to me, making me sit down on the chair and then goes to pour me a cup of water, which is what I was trying to do before accidentally dropping the glass.

"I was thirsty," I answer part of it. The truth is, I was actually waiting for him.

"You can't sleep?" He looks at me and I nod, "Should I make you a hot chocolate, instead?" He asks and I nod with a smile due to how caring he's being.

He hands the hot chocolate to me when he's done making it and then cleans the mess that I made with the glass.

"Were you at the company up until now?" I ask when he's done sweeping.

"Not really,"

"When did you leave the company?"

"A few hours ago."

"Where were you, then?" I ask realising maybe I was acting a little too overprotective but I couldn't care less. This is the man I'm about to be getting married to, I need to get things straight.

"At Marcus'. Didn't you say you wanted me to tell him the truth?" He says and I put on a serious expression showing I didn't believe him at all.

"I'm not playing. I know you wouldn't go to Marcus' place at this time of the night just for that." I argue and he smiles, stepping closer.

"Then, where else would I have been at this time of the night?" He stands in front of me, waiting for my answer. Since the chairs were tall enough, we were about the same height now.

"I don't know. Only you can answer that, and whoever you were with." I avoid his eyes. I can't stay mad at him when he looks at me the way he is right now, but I have to.

"I love you." He declares to my surprise and my heart immediately reacts to his words. "If you're thinking that I was with another woman, then wipe the idea out of your mind because I wasn't." He continues, which made me smile internally. I didn't show my happiness on the outside because I'm still mad at him. He didn't even answer Ms Aminah when she suggested we do the nikah. Which means he's completely against marrying now. "What now?" He noticed how I still didn't look much happier.

"Nothing." After all, I can't force him to do what he doesn't want to. I'm just going to try to avoid any fit ah (temptation) between us that may lead to sin.

"Is it because of what your mum said?"

"My mum?" I ask, since he usually calls her 'mum', as well.

"It would be weird if I kept calling her mum, wouldn't it?" He says and I give him a weak smile. Maybe it would.

"But, no. I'm not mad. Marriage is a mutual agreement, so if you don't want to, I'd rather leave it as it is." I shrug, trying to convince not only him but also myself.

"It's not that I don't want to_"

"Well, that's what it's looking like." I interrupt before taking the last gulp out of my hot chocolate and then getting up from my chair. "Anyways, thanks for the hot chocolate," I say while turning around to leave, but...

"Select the date." On hearing that, my heart immediately races.

"I don't want you to agree with me. I can wait." I turn around to face him.
