"ready?" erin asked while taking a deep breath. the two had been practicing different types of attacks for an hour already and despite the tiredness from playing, the two still seemed to be enjoying each other's company. surprisingly, they didn't know they could get along so well. oikawa haven't tried making a move on her yet and erin had been talking to oikawa without her cold remarks.

after the setter gave her a nod, erin tossed the ball in the air, high enough to give her time to run from the back court to the front court and when she did, she gave herself a boost so she could jump high enough to reach the net. even though erin's height gave her a huge disadvantage as a spiker, she knew how to counter it.

"here, your majesty." the setter tossed at erin who was now in the air eyeing the ball so attentively.

this was erin's favorite part in playing volleyball— it's when she sees the ball so clearly and everything else just slows down. even if they were doing this for an hour, erin still couldn't hide the smile on her face as she make contact with the ball, spiking it with such power that it made the bottle she was aiming at fly in the air.

"yes!" erin yelled as she land and naturally ran to her setter to high five with him. "that was a nice set!" she smiled as she look up to the taller boy, waiting to return the gesture.

oikawa's eyes smiled as he instinctively returned her high five and naturally clasped his fingers, unaware that the person he's intertwining his fingers to was the girl he's smitten to. "that was an amazing spike too! you know what, you remind me of a boy i know at another school, erin-cha—"

the captain couldn't finish what he was saying when he opened his eyes to look at the shorter girl before him. the sight of erin looking up to him with a smile after giving him a compliment caused the uncontrollable heat to rush to his face, not to mention how close they were right now.

it took erin a couple of seconds before realizing what made the captain so speechless. so when she realized, she immediately broke away from his hands and took a few steps back.

"uh.. i think i'm done for the day. you?" luckily, erin was calm so oikawa's embarrassment immediately disappeared.

but erin's composure made oikawa felt a pang of pain on his chest. he expected a small reaction from her but erin wasn't the least bit flustered. her usual stoic expression remained the same even after they were so close awhile ago that he couldn't help but to think maybe she's not really interested in him at all.

of course he won't give up that easily, but he just couldn't help but to give in on his assumptions that maybe, erin wasn't attracted to him but rather, she's attracted to his childhood friend iwaizumi more.

"oikawa-senpai?"

this interrupted his train of thoughts. "yeah?"

"i'm leaving." erin informed the captain as she slid the straps of her bag to her shoulder. "see you tomorrow." as she began walking out of the gym, oikawa immediately ran to his duffle bag and turned the gym's lights off.

strangely, erin looked like she was in a hurry so oikawa hurriedly locked the gym before catching up to her. this made erin look at him confusingly. "what are you doing?" she asked the captain.

"what does it look like i'm doing?" he asked.

"uh, stalking me?"

"what?! that's so mean, erin-chan!"
