Shortly after Puck's proposal, he and Quinn decided to take a break.

The breakup was mutual and amicable. Given everything that was going on, Quinn and Puck weren't talking as often as they did when they were dating anyway so it was almost like nothing had changed.

The only real difference was that they didn't say 'I love you' anymore, but it didn't matter because they both knew how the other really felt.

Quinn furrowed her eyebrow as she looked at her phone screen.

"She's asleep already, Noah." Quinn said as she answered the phone.

"I know." Puck replied. "I wanted to talk to you."

"Me?" Quinn asked.

"Yeah." Puck said.

"Okay, sure." Quinn replied. "Everything okay?"

"Yeah." Puck promised. "Is it okay if I stop by?"

"I'll be here." Quinn said before she hung up the phone.

Puck arrived about ten minutes later. Quinn took a deep breath as she opened the door.

"Hey." Puck said.

"Hey." Quinn replied. "Come in."

"Thanks." Puck nodded, stepping into the apartment.

"So." Quinn began as she closed the door. "What's going on?"

"Maybe we should sit down." Puck suggested.

"You're starting to scare me." Quinn told Puck.

"Let's sit." Puck repeated, taking Quinn's hand and leading her to the couch. They sat down together, and Puck took a deep breath. "I'm sure you're not gonna like what I'm gonna say, but please just listen."

"You can tell me anything." Quinn nodded slowly as she pulled her hand away. "But Noah, I swear if you got someone pregnant-"

"No." Puck said with a chuckle. "No, it's not that."

Quinn looked at Puck.

"Remember how I've been talking about doing something special?" Puck asked. "For Finn."

"I remember." Quinn replied.

"I joined the Air Force." Puck blurted.

"What?" Quinn asked.

"I joined the Air Force." Puck repeated. "To honor Finn."

"A-Are you serious?" Quinn stuttered.

"I just got the call." Puck stated. "I'm leaving next month."

Quinn looked at him.

"I'm gonna be fine." Puck promised.

"You should've talked to me about this." Quinn stated.

"I'm talking to you about it right now." Puck pointed out.

"You should've talked to me before." Quinn clarified.

"Quinn." Puck sighed.

"Losing Finn was hard enough." Quinn said softly. "If Beth and I lose you..."

"You won't." Puck told Quinn.

"You don't know that." Quinn replied, wiping a tear as it rolled down her cheek.

"I promise you I'll do whatever it takes to come home safe and sound, okay?" Puck said. "Come here."

Quinn let Puck pull her into his arms and hold her while she processed the news and calmed down.

"Noah." Quinn said as she wiped her eyes and pulled away from Puck.

"Q." Puck replied.

"If this is something you need to do, I'll be supportive." Quinn told Puck, taking a deep breath. "I know how much it means to you to honor Finn. He would be so proud of you."

Puck nodded slowly.

"But you better call whenever you can." Quinn added. "And Noah, if you die, I'll kill you."

Puck smiled slightly. "I won't die."

"Promise?" Quinn asked.

"I promise." Puck said.

Quinn nodded. "I really am so proud of you."

"Thank you." Puck responded.

"I'm gonna miss you." Quinn added.

"You're gonna be busy with school and Beth." Puck pointed out. "You'll forget all about me."

"Never." Quinn smiled as she leaned over to Puck and hugged him.
