Her feet arrived outside the familiar houses of Kenma and Kuroo, gazing at them, the party replaying in her mind, she gritted her teeth, just friends, no special treatment. She forced herself forward jogging up to Kenma’s knocking heavily. There was a moment of silence before the door opened, Kuroo appearing before her,
“Hey Suki, didn’t you hear? Practice is cancelled.”
“Eh, yeah, I heard,” Akasuki admitted, “I actually brought stuff for Kenma, to help him feel better.”
Kuroo widened the door,
“if you can actual do it, then please.”
Akasuki entered glancing around.
“He’s in his room sleeping,” Kuroo explained.
“Aren’t you coming?” She asked.
He gestured to the door,
“I ordered food so.”
Akasuki shook her head,
“I’m surprised you aren’t sick.”
He slapped his stomach grinning,
“an immune system of gold.”
Perfect captain, perfect body. She chuckled jogging up the stairs, reaching Kenma’s door knocking lightly,
“hey, it’s me,” she pushed the door open to see Kenma huddled with a blanket over his head playing on his phone, “Kenma!”
This little bugger. His head lifted, eyes widening as he stared at her in disbelief,
“What, are you doing here?”
It doesn’t matter at this point. She huffed placing the bags down as she reached over to grab his phone,
“Kuroo said you were sleeping.”
Just give, the phone, to her. He pulled back holding his phone up,
“hey! Stop!”
She lunged forward slipping onto the bed as she grabbed the phone from his fingers, her eyes falling to his, he’s such an idiot,
“you should be resting.”
Kenma furrowed his brows, muttering under his breath as he tried to pull the blanket over him. She glanced down noticing she had managed to pull the blanket down to reveal his chest, oh fuck, she hastily lifted her knees allowing him to do so covering himself fully, as she slid off the bed. Kenma leaned back against the wall displaying an angry expression,
“I can’t.”
Can’t rest?
“Why not?” Akasuki asked.
He shrugged pulling the blanket further around his head, strands of hair sticking to his face. He really needs to rest. She shoved his phone into her pocket, Kenma instantly arguing,
“I didn’t finish my level.”
Akasuki glared at him, noticing the sudden heat in his face, whoa. How sick is he? She pressed the back of her hand against his forehead, he’s so hot, muttering to herself,
“you have a fever.”
She pulled back crouching down as she rummaged through the bags, she had juices, vitamins, meds, cold compressions, she sighed, what does he need? Fuck, she pulled out the medicine with a bottle of water, handing it to Kenma,
“take this.”
Kenma loosely took the bottle between his fingers,
“I,” the bottle slipped from his fingers as he furrowed his brows, “can’t.”
She watched his fingers shake around the bottle. Kenma. Akasuki took the water from him, opening the medicine, putting two into his hand placing it into his lap as she opened the water. She couldn’t imagine the pain he’s in. She lifted his hand to his lips. Kenma tilting his head back gulping, Akasuki then lifted the water to his lips, Kenma excessively gulping. How long has he been pretending to be asleep? She pulled the bottle away whispering,
“do you have a headache as well?”
He nodded, his eyes closing as he leaned back against his wall. She felt sorry for him, she hadn’t been seriously ill in years, but she remembers the distant pain of sickness.
“What has Kuroo been doing?” Akasuki frowned muttering to herself.
Kenma groaned,
“he took my games,” he took a small breath of air, “he tried to feed me but I’m, not hungry,” Akasuki watched him as he spoke his eyes clenching, “he’s mad at me.”
She sees what’s going on. Does he think Kuroo left him alone because he was angry?
“He’s not mad,” Akasuki insisted quietly, “he just wants you to get better.”
Kenma’s eyes fluttered open slowly glancing down at her, his eyes asking for reassurance. Kenma, her heart ached at the pain on his face, the longer she stays here, the longer she’ll want to care for him. She pulled away frowning,
“why were you on your phone?”
“It, helps me,” Kenma whispered, “distracts from the pain.”
He’s in that much pain? She closed her eyes taking a deep breath, just friends, she patted the pillow at the end of Kenma’s bed,
“If you rest, I’ll let you watch me play.”
Kenma watched her momentarily before lowering himself onto the pillow gazing at her tiredly. She rested against the bed frame beside Kenma, pulling out the phone lowering the brightness so it wouldn’t hurt him.  This is the least she can do for him. She turned on the phone.  coming to a lock screen. It looked to be a game character, she wondered who, she lifted the phone up to Kenma,
“finger print please.”
Kenma’s hand reached out lightly pressing against the screen, the phone unlocking.
“Thank you,” Akasuki smiled bringing it down so she can see the screen.
She loaded the game, beginning to play silently, the melodic music from the game softly pleasing their ears. Some time went by, Akasuki feeling a soft breath of air flowing over her shoulder, is he asleep? She glanced up at Kenma’s calm face, his face nestled into the pillow, good, hopefully he rests properly. She turned the phone off climbing to her feet, it was time for her to leave now. How long has she been here for? She made her way out of the room, leaving the door slightly open, making her way downstairs into the living room where Kuroo was sat gorging on a burger. Fuck, that looks good. He glanced up at the sound of footsteps, noticing her,
“how is he doctor?”
Ha funny, she sat beside him,
“just keep an eye on him, he'll be okay.”
Kuroo nodded pushing over a closed box. What was this? She curiously gazed at him opening it, he got her a burger, she grinned at him,
“thank you.”
“It was for Kenma but you know,” Kuroo shrugged.
She started to eat, fuck, this was good. Half way through the burger, her phone buzzed signalling a message. Oh? She wiped her hand on the tissue pulling her phone out to read the message.
“Can’t stop thinking about today, I hope your friend is okay, you’ll make a good nurse :)” from Yamaguchi.
He’s so sweet, her luck can’t be this good. Apparently, the strange smile on her face caught the attention of Kuroo,
“so, you gonna tell me why you’re dressed like that?”
Can’t she dress like this normally? She glared at him loosely,
“does it matter?”
She replied to the message,
“me too, he’s resting atm, only thanks to you :)”
“So that date with the other team's player was nothing?” Kuroo questioned with a smirk.
How, she furrowed her brows, Yaku, that cheeky sod. She placed her phone down continuing to eat,
“it wasn’t even a date.”
“Right, that’s next week,” Kuroo admitted.
She lightly kicked him, despite being the captain, he was a real ass sometimes. Kuroo chuckled at her attempt,
“alright, calm down,” he turned to her, “we gotta talk anyway.”
What? She turned to him, a serious expression on his face.
“I’m kidding!” he grinned.
She’s gonna die from these idiots. She playfully kicked him again, Kuroo taking a hold of her legs as he leaned back against the arm, Akasuki shifting to face him,
“no but seriously,” he cleared his throat, “we have a training camp coming up soon,” she nodded listening to him, “and a surprise, which I’ll need your help on the day it comes.”
A surprise? The day it comes?
“Is that alright?” he asked.
She nodded; sure, it was suspicious but sure. She continued to eat her burger relishing in the joy of the taste.
