The last time - Chap 63

The final bell of the day rung, practically music to Akasuki's ears, home sweet home. Realisation hastily soaked in, she hadn't seen Damien all day, there is no doubt she'll be seeing him soon. She slipped her stuff into her bag glancing out of the door, like usual she had waited for everyone else to leave. It was quieter this way. She stepped out making her way through the corridors. Hm, but something was off, she started to pick up her pace, it was too quiet. Something's not right. She turned a corner, two unknown girls suddenly approaching her,
"um excuse me, you're Akasuki Au, Nekoma's manager, right?"
What? How do they know her name? Whatever, that wasn't important right now,
"yes."
The pair exchanged worrisome looks,
"we heard some girls talking about a fight in the court yard,"
Her hearing faded, a fight? Her grip tightened on her bag as she burst into a sprint. Please don't be any of them. Kenma, please. She sprinted through the corridors reaching the main entrance noticing the small gathered crowd in the courtyard. Please. She pushed open the doors, dropping her bag as she truly pushed herself to the limits begging to herself that it wasn't her boys. She shoved through the thin layer of people into the inner ring, her eyes widening at the sight before her. Yaku? He was sat atop Damien, their clothes scruffy, firmly holding his chest down with one palm as he brought his hand down to meet his cheek. No. That. This, can't be.
"Yaku, please stop!" Yūki begged trying to helplessly grab Yaku's shirt.
Yaku brushed him off, his eyes full of fury, his usual kind voice transformed into a low growl,
"you ever touch one of us again, I swear to god!"
What happened? Something's not right. She knew Yaku was strong, but strong enough to hold Damien down? No, that's, highly unlikely. And the worst thing was, Damien's filthy grin. Blood trickling down his chin as he chuckled at Yaku's words,
"I'm quite happy with touching her.”
Her? Yaku's grip tightened as he brought his fist up again. No. Whether it was Yūki's pleads, Yaku's fury, Damien's pain, the familiarity she felt as she watched it play out. Something distant, buried deep down, a fire grew, her old instincts kicking in. Her palm had already collided with Yaku's cheek before she even had registered her movements, her mouth dropping with his widening eyes. What, what just happened? She, no, she wouldn't do that.
"Akasuki," Yūki whispered, his eyes wide in shock.
"I," tears formed in her eyes as she desperately tried to form her words, "you were hurting him, I, I panicked, and, and I just thought, you weren't listening to Yūki, you might,"
He might,
"listen to you?" Yaku growled, his brows furrowing and his jaw clenching.
She didn't have to nod; he knew he was right. She wasn't thinking straight. He clambered off Damien, stepping to Akasuki,
"I am, done!" he jabbed a finger into her chest, "listening to you!"
Wait no, if he just listened to her, if he just listened, she might still be able to save him still, yet a second went by where Yaku's face was no longer in front of hers, her eyes moving to see Damien shake his fist, thirst in his eyes. Her misty eyes lowered to Yaku on the ground holding his nose,
"if you ever, touch her again, I will kill you!"
Kill? Damien shook his head muttering as he grabbed Akasuki's wrist pulling her through the circle, wait,
"I told you if you kept messing around, I'd take it into my own hands," she glanced back through the circle to see Yūki kneeling beside Yaku, the pair engaging in conversation, wait, she tried to speak out, to apologise but nothing came out.
He stopped moving as they reached the gate turning to face her, dropping his hold on her wrist, to grab her face tightly between his finger, bringing it to meet his,
"now I have to clean up your mess."
Her mess? Did, did she really do this? Tears dribbled down her face as she took a shaky breath, she really did this. Damien's face tightened,
"fuck," he dropped his hold grabbing Akasuki's head forcing it into his chest holding her tightly, her tears soaking his shirt.
What has she done?
"Stop crying," Damien muttered.
Even if she wanted to, there was no use in telling her to do the impossible. Her fingers were digging into the side of her thighs, how could she do this? How did she let Damien slither his way back into her life? How could she do this to them? To Yaku? He's been nothing but good to her. She truly is the scummiest of the lowest scum.
"Come on," Damien ordered pulling back to continue dragging her away.
Yet her knees were weak, her feet solidified to the floor, sending her towards the ground, her kneecaps scrapping against the concrete. It's for the greater good. It's for the greater good. Damien's grip tightened, his fingers burning around her wrist,
"grow up, will ya? You're acting pathetic."
That's one word that she agreed with. He abruptly yanked her to her feet, taking a hold of her ankles as he swung her into a bridal carry,
"you fucked up, now you're going to deal with the consequences."
She gulped at the thought, salt slipping past her lips. Why did she do that? Why? Who, was the girl who possessed her to do that? That couldn't have been the Akasuki she knew. No, her eyes closed fatigued and worn, Akasuki wasn't quite sure who she was.
