The following weeks were filled of secret meetings and sly kisses around secluded corners. This time, it was during lunch at a time where no one else was in Akasuki's class. Kenma leaned on the desk tapping at the paper laid out before Akasuki,
"we went over this," lifting his eyes to meet hers, "have you forgotten it?"
Not at all, Akasuki pouted teasingly,
"I'll be honest, it was an excuse," she reached up to cup his face gently pulling it towards her, "to get you here."
"Really?" Kenma whispered smirking, "and I thought you were just bad at maths."
Bad at maths? That sounds like a test. Akasuki lifted her lips to press against his cheek,
"coming from the one who copied my answers."
"My bad," Kenma whispered moving his lips to meet hers humming through the kiss, "tonight, I have a cool game I want to show you, is that alright?" pulling away with hopeful eyes.
He's so adorable.
"Perfect," Akasuki hummed, Kenma's eyes growing brighter controlling her lips to curl into a grin.
Fuck, she's completely mesmerised by him. Kenma carefully brought his fingers up to brush against her cheek,
"god, if I knew how beautiful you were before, I wouldn't have spent so much time staring at my stupid game."
Akasuki felt the heat spread through her cheeks, is he serious? He's complimented her many times before but it's always been in a silly, reluctant manner, but this, she could feel the sincerity radiating from him. Before she could say anything to pull herself back into her reality, Kenma pulled away, a smirk spread across his partly hidden face,
"meet at yours tonight, right?"
Akasuki nodded slowly melting into reality,
"right, I'll see ya there."
Kenma backed out of the room with a tiny wave before ducking his head down to blend into the passing students. He's so cute, she can't get over the smallest things he does. She lowered her gaze to the paper in front of her tracing the questions, maybe life is finally turning around.
"Hey Akasuki," a voice spoke from the door.
What? Her body froze, coldness washing over her, was she hearing voices? There’s no way, no, no. It has to be a nightmare, a hallucination, some delusion her mind is playing on her. She lifted her head to look at the doorway, her heart dropping into her stomach the erupting emotions beginning to burn at the edges, why is he here? Is he actually there His? His eyes narrowed, his pretty, poisonous lips spread into a contagious grin,
"miss me?"
Shivers ran shot across her shoulders tingling through her arms, her tongue frozen in her mouth, why is he here? How is he here? As he moved towards her, snaking his way through the desks, her eyes fixed on each and every movement, why is he here? His floppy blond locks bounced with each step until he stopped directly beside her. This, can't be real, slowly crouching at the side of her desk, his head just under the level of hers, this isn't real. His hand reached out, her eyes widening, no this isn't real, he's not here, his icy fingertips tracing her jaw, this, his eyes were eagerly feasting upon the fear, this is, brushing his thumb over her lips,
"how come Rei gets the feisty you, and I don't," real, his fingers suddenly turned pressing her cheeks together, fingers spreading across the side of her face, "have you already forgotten about me?"
She was stuck in place, fear flooding her desirable dreams banishing her to a room hastily filling with the floods of terror, this is real. He was here. Right now. In front of her. Her lips parted in attempt to utter her wanted words, nothing but a gasp for breath left, she couldn't do it. The moment she laid eyes on him, it was game over. He was back.
"Now, you're listening," he spoke, his voice stern and harsh as he leant in closer to her face, splatters of saliva erupting as he spoke, "you're going to play by, my, rules," a terrifying grin grew across his face, "and if you don't, I will solely destroy the lives of your, so called friends,”
Akasuki was desperate to hear the rest of his warning but her ears had given up their responsibility, handing their needs over to her fear. Why now, why did have to turn up right at this moment? It could've been any other time, but now, now when life was good for her, he's here. And this time, she didn't have a choice, this time it wasn't about her, it was about them. She couldn't let this devil of a boy ruin their rates of success, she'd rather, yes for sure, she’d rather die than let him get to them.
"Oh and," he tightened his grasp yanking her face to him as he held up a phone screen, what the fuck.!!!
On the phone screen was a photo of Akasuki and Kenma, hand in hand, she remembered this moment, they had finished practice and decided to stay back so Kenma could teach her more. Fuck, if she didn't persuade him to stay back, he would have never been noticed, he wouldn't never have gotten the photo, only if she had realised sooner that her dreams for him were sugar coated placebos that could never relieve the pain of her true nightmare.
"If you step out of place once, I will personally see to this little one," he hissed gritting his teeth.
This mother fuck, Akasuki's hand flew up to grab his wrist, her eyes piercing daggers into his, this, tears swelling in her eyes,
"If you ever touch him, I will not hesitate to end you," this is now about Kenma.
His eyes sparked up at the retaliation loosening his grip, Akasuki knew,
"good," he patted her cheek in a patronising manner, "looks like we understand each other," she had no choice in this matter, "listen to my orders, do not mention anything to anyone, then everything will be okay, got it?"
What was she meant to do? Agree blindly to his demands? Or retaliate with the potential consequences in relation to the team? Fuck, his fingers landed against her cheek in a harsh short slap dragging her eyes back from where they had wandered in thought,
"nod your head so I can see that you're listening."
She gritted her teeth, nodding her head shortly, apologising to Kenma and the boys in her mind, this was for them, she'll do what she can to ensure their safety. She was the only one who knew how far he would go. He pulled back, his smug expression fading as he backed away from her,
"I'm watching you, every single move," he reached the door frame, running his tongue across his bottom lip, "I'll contact you when I need you," fading into the students now moving to their classes.
As soon as he left, Akasuki felt the weight lift from her shoulders yet the heavy burden of fear had scarred its way back into her heart, forcing her to gasp for pure air. This, is how it's always been? She felt cold droplets dribble down her cheeks, fuck, hastily wiping the unsuspecting tears away lowering her head against the desk letting out a shaky breath, why did he have to turn up? Why? Life was perfect, but now he's here again, she can't let them know, if the team finds out, they'll want to get involved and she cannot allow them to have anything to do with this guy. That was her job, not just as their manager, but as a friend. Her eyes widened as she lifted her head up, she can't let Kenma come over. She scrambled to grab her phone from her pocket trying to steady her fragile fingers to construct an understandable message,
"hey, I'm not feeling well, it's best you don't come tonight, don't want you to get sick."
He'll understand, right? She shoved her phone into her pocket, students now filing into class. Akasuki helplessly trying to filter her thoughts, she's done this once before, she can do it again, but the only difference is this time, she's not alone, so if she doesn't do everything he wants, they'll be dragged into this. Her fists clenched against the desk; this is insane.
