Akasuki pushed open the door, complete silence rushing over her unstable thoughts, it’s so quiet, she hated it.
“I don’t think I should leave you,” Yamaguchi spoke softly closing the door behind them, “you look unwell, possibly the beginning of a cold.”
Unwell? A cold? She wished it was something that simple, instead it was her guilty conscience harassing her, yet her head moved into a nod, her body carrying herself up the stairs to a sure place of solitude. She flopped onto her bed, her arms barely wrapping around the edges, how could she do this to him? Only she could do something like that. There was knock on the door, Akasuki glancing up, Yamaguchi holding a glass of water with some tablets in his hands,
“I got these.”
She sat up taking them in her hands, and to such a sweet boy like him, she had to be the devil herself, she placed the tablets on her tongue taking a sip of cold water. The tablets dissolving against the liquid leaving an unpleasant taste in her mouth. The refreshing water flushing away the taste, her body dropped back against the bed, Yamaguchi sitting on the end, this silence was deafening. She glanced at him, his sight focused on the ground, Tadashi, I'm sorry, she thought, her fingers reaching out to cover his,
“I’m sorry.”
His gaze drifted over to her as he shook his head slowly, a tender smile on his face,
“no no, it’s okay, all good doctors get sick.”
Do they?
“I’m just glad I’m the one who gets to look after you,” he whispered.
He’s, such a dork, her fingers pulled lightly at his hand causing it to give way, his body falling towards her, his arms catching against the mattress stopping himself from impacting, turning to face her playfully,
“what was that for?”
“For being a dumb doctor,” she whispered moving back as she turned onto her side to face him.
He shifted to face her, his fingers lifting to meet hers between the two of them,
“sue me for being a dumb doctor, but I think know exactly what you need.”
“Yeah?” Akasuki whispered playfully, “and what is that?”
Yamaguchi unexpectedly lifted his arms, wrapping them carefully around Akasuki pulling her into his chest, whispering into her ear,
“a hug.”
Her eyes widened at his sudden touch, the worries, the exhausting thoughts, even the aching pains in her muscles were banished from her body, she kinda, liked this, her arms snaked around him, her eyes closing as she rested her head against his chest, she could hear the slow quickening beat of his heart through his shirt, she wondered if that’s what hers sounded like at this exact moment. She couldn’t remember the last hug she ever enjoyed. All she remembered were the ones she dreaded.
“Tadashi,” Akasuki whispered her fingers travelling to his neck lightly tracing his skin.
“This is the longest you’ve been quiet,” Yamaguchi softly whispered, “you either hate it or love it.”
She pulled her head back to look up at him, how was she meant to tell him she liked it? It felt so different to what she was used to. But did she like it for the fact it was real physically connection with another or did she like it because it was him? It, couldn’t be physically, she hated whenever, he, used to hug her. But this time, it was a mystery to her, and probably to the greatest minds of the world.
“You’re a good doctor,” Akasuki whispered.
“I think,” he shifted pulling out his phone, “I need evidence of you saying that for the next time you call me dumb.”
Akasuki chuckled turning away from her,
“you wish,” moving her head against his chest her eyes closing as she let his kind-hearted warmth flush over her.
“You’re right, I do,” he whispered laughing, there was a shift of cloth as he spoke once again, “tell the world what you just told me?”
“Tell the world?” Akasuki smirked opening her eyes, his face beside hers, he nodded with a hopeful smile.
He was a good doctor, she wasn’t sure that hugs could even do that kind of thing, she even lost her track of thought. She glanced at the phone in his hands, watching the time of the video going up, back to his wanting eyes,
“fine,” she turned back to the camera sitting up on her elbows Yamaguchi following her, “Tadashi, Yamaguchi is,” her eyes flickered back to him, “one of the best doctors I know.”
His hopeful smile spread into joy, his eyes becoming lost in hers, he slowly reached up brushing his fingers against her skin, her lips parting in slow suspense, it felt like a romance novel, his fingers continued to the tip of her ear, brushing her hair behind,
“you’re so pretty.”
“I’m not sure that’s how doctors should speak to their patients,” Akasuki whispered, a smirk on her face, she groaned as she remembered the camera loosely reaching out to push it away, “I think my dosage needs to be reduced before I start to speak nonsense.”
“Really?” Yamaguchi asked, joy seeping through.
She laughed at his excited eyes. His cute freckles, rosy cheeks paired with his open mouth from surprise. She lifted her hands to wrap under his arms pulling him down into her, nestling her face into his chest,
“yes, you dummy.”
He dropped his phone to the floor, his arms wrapping around Akasuki, his fingers sensitively running over her shoulders with complete care and time,
“if a hug is all you need to be happy, I want to be the man who always gives you one.”
Her heart began to quicken at his teasing words, a part of her hoping that he was going to be that man, she tightened her grip,
“thank you.”
