missing

"cause you only need the light when it's burning low,
only miss the sun when it starts to snow,
only know you love her when you let her go"

Most of the time we only want something when we don't have it anymore. We miss things or people when they're gone even though we never really appreciated their presence when they were still with us. We get so used to our daily lives that we don't see or recognize the people surrounding us every day. And when they step out of our lives eventually, we wonder what did go wrong or what we could have done to make them stay, even if it was only for a little bit longer.

But why do we get so used to the people we love and the things we own and the opportunities and privileges we have every single day?

Maybe we as human beings are only meant to be for temporary happiness, because our brains get bored easily by the things we already know. We simply forget appreciating something which is always available for us. But if it isn't anymore we get sad and very often we even regret decisions we made and words we said or - even worse - the ones that never left our mind and are still in our heads since then.
