Chapter 41

jane sat bundled up in the kitchen with sanji and law "it's freezing my body is not susceptible to this kind of cold" Jane complained sanji and law laughed as sanji brought her a cup with a warm liquid inside "thanks" she said happily taking it from him she sipped it before placing it on the table then picked up her book and began reading "what are you reading?" Law asked curiously "a book" Jane said "no really I thought it was an elephant" law said Jane laughed "it's called the killer in the closet" Jane said flipping the page "I'll assume it's about a killer in the closet?" Law asked "nope it's about you" Jane said laughing to the point where she almost fell over "why you little rat" law said looking at her shocked "Jane how could you say such hurtful things" sanji laughed "it's ok he knows I'm kidding" Jane said still laughing along with sanji and law Jane took a sip from her cup once again before placing it back on the table and continuing with her book after a while of reading she glanced over at law who looked as though he was fast asleep Jane giggled and continued with her book "i don't know how you guys are used to this cold already" Jane complained "I've always kinda liked the cold I used to hang out in the freezer when I wanted to be alone" sanji said making Jane laugh suddenly the ship rocked heavily causing everyone to topple over Jane closed her eyes firmly a moment later she opened them coming face to face with law who had his arms out so he wouldn't fall on her he blushed slightly at the close encounter and quickly moved away "sorry" he whispered Jane nodded before standing up she ran over to where sanji had fallen he had a bowl on his head Jane laughed and took hold of his hand pulling him up before standing on the tips of her toes to remove the bowl she placed it on the counter laughing "lets go find out what that was" Jane said the three nodded in agreement before rushing to the deck once out the door without realizing it the ship was covered with ice Jane slipped and slid into the mast "owie owie owie" she said holding her head "Jane! Are you ok?" Law asked carefully sliding over "my head hurts now" she complained sticking her lip out law laughed "your fine" he said Jane smiled "yup yup" she said law helped her up carefully "be more cautious so you don't slip again" law said steadying Jane they walked over to nami "nami what was that? Did we hit a reef?" Jane asked nami shook her head "we hit an ice berg" Janes jaw dropped "WERE GONNA SINK" she said panicking "and half of us can't swim" Jane said panicking the colour slowly draining fro her face " Jane calm down Franky checked it out were fine as long as we don't hit another one" nami said Jane sighed in relief "ok that's cool then" she said making nami laugh at her sudden mood swing "I'll be back" Jane said before taking off jumping up to the crows nest she peered through the window spotting zoro she slowly opened the door without making a sound closing it behind her she ducked behind a machine and snuck her way around until she was right behind him before carefully putting her arms around him from behind covering his eyes "guess who?" She said "judging by your height and the fact that your pressed against my back I'm gonna go with jane" zoro said turning around before lifting Jane into the air Jane giggled "so even when it's -50•C you'll workout without your shirt on?" Jane asked innocently zoro chuckled "I see what your getting at but it's hot in here" zoro said jane nodded in agreement "actually it is hotter in here then anywhere else in the ship" Jane said unzipping her jacket "maybe it's just cause I'm here" zoro said Janes jaw dropped "you have such a BIG ego" Jane said shocked zoro laughed "i'm kidding" he said "then why's it so hot up here?" Jane asked "I turned the ships thermostat on" zoro said Jane smacked her forehead "why didn't I think of that" she said zoro laughed before hugging her gently "oh by the way what made the ship rock like that" zoro asked "oh nami hit an ice berg" Jane said Zoro's jaw dropped and the colour from his face drained "but that means we're sinking and you can't swim and that water is freezing" zoro said going on a rant "zoro calm down" Jane said when he didn't calm down she grabbed his face and kissed him "I said calm down" she said again "Franky said we'll be fine as long as we don't hit another one" Jane explained zoro nodded "ok that means your safe then" he said "haha I love how you say that I'm safe instead of all of us" Jane said smiling zoro shrugged "just goes to show how much more I love you" zoro said with a smirk making Jane giggle with a blush "I'm gonna go back down there if you come down be carful I almost died it's so slippery" Jane said zoro chuckled "ok" he said "I'm serious I slipped and slid into the mast hit my head be careful" she said zoro kissed the top of her head "there all better now I'm gonna get back to my training" zoro said jane nodded before going out of the door she quickly zipped her jacket and dropped down from the top as soon as her feet touched the ice she slipped again with a loud crash everyone turned around Jane was seeing stars before she looked at the crew law sighed and walked over "didn't I tell you to be careful" law said Jane laughed "sorry I forgot and I just finished saying be careful" Jane said law quickly helped her up and they watched as nami began maneuvering elegantly around the icebergs they soon came to an ice covered island "why does it have to be snow" she whined sitting in her spot again law shrugged sanji continued cooking she picked up her book and huddled against herself huffing lightly she could see her breath in front of her and she giggled lightly claiming laws attention "what are you giggling about over there?" He asked she blew her minty breath at law he shook his head "your such a kid" he said "not as much of one as luffy" she stated making law laugh "pretty damn close" he said Jane pouted "meanie" she said law only laughed more. soon night began to fall and sanji was just finishing dinner everyone came into the kitchen and sat down sanji served the food and everyone ate happily Jane relaxed In her spot as she finished eating she put her plate on the small table in front of her before continuing her book the noise in the room began to die down and Jane felt her fatigue taking over she fell asleep, she woke up a bit to someone lifting her up she looked up at who it was to see zoro she nuzzled into him happily she heard him chuckle before she dozed off again. "Alright so who's going to look after luffy?" Nami asked Jane sighed "I'll do it" she said putting her hand up "are you sure?" Nami asked "well I am the only one who can actually keep up with him" Jane said nami nodded "alright luffy Jane's going with you" nami said "alright!" Luffy said happily Jane giggled before pulling on a thicker jacket "hey luffy" Jane said "eh?" Luffy asked "race ya" she said before taking off "OI THATS CHEATING" luffy shouted laughing as he ran after her "why did I agree to let her go with him" nami said holding a hand to her face "don't worry nami Jane is responsible" Robin said patting her shoulder "I hope so" nami said "but perhaps it wasn't the best idea to let two devil fruit users go alone" Robin said "oh no" nami said Robin giggled trying to calm nami's nerves Jane and luffy ran all over the island jumping, shouting and laughing before the two get tired "let's head back" Jane said "awww" luffy said Jane took a quick look around and gestured for luffy to follow her walking through trees and snow Jane heard a strange noise she paused "what's wrong?" Luffy asked "shh" Jane said luffy paused as Jane closed her eyes a listened she gripped her swords and spun around blocking someone's attack she smirked pushing them off they continued to attack and Jane got bored she swung her left arm making the person stumble back and fall over "luffy we have to get back to the ship now" Jane said luffy nodded jane held out her arm "hold on" she said luffy nodded before Jane jumped launching from the ground she jumped off various trees heading to wards the ship she heard gun fire "shit" she mumbled dodging bullets while pushing foreword "luffy make sure you get back to the ship" Jane said "i'm not leaving you behind" luffy said "you have no choice if we both get caught then no one can help" Jane said "and my sole purpose in the ship is to help you achieve your dream" Jane said she pushed off a tree going high "go" she said reluctantly luffy launched himself off Jane she let herself fall back as she watched luffy fly towards the ship she flipped several times before landing on the ground firmly she stood up pulling out her swords she made quick work of the people attacking before heading towards the ship again when she felt something hit the back of her head "shit" she muttered before everything going black. she woke in a dark room she was confused as to where she was and her head hurt like crazy "where the fuck" she mumbled a door opened and Jane squinted to see chopper and law walking in she looked at them confused "what the" she mumbled "Jane your awake thank god" chopper said "wha" she asked "we found you unconscious on the ground" law said Jane rubbed her head "luffy made it back yeah" she asked standing up "luffys fine that's how we knew to go looking for you" law said "AH Jane you shouldn't be up moving around" chopper said "I'm fine chopper just a headache I got knocked on the back of the head is all" Jane said shaking her head slightly chopper sighed and began arguing with Jane she shook her head and walked to the door entering the lounge where everyone was seated "Jane what happened?" Nami asked Jane pulled out a piece of paper and a pen she began drawing on it thinking she bit down on her lip as she thought "Jane?" Usopp asked "I don't know who those guys were but they've been following us for a while now" Jane said "what do you mean?" Franky asked "well their clothes I remember them from one of the islands we stopped at to re supply" Jane explained scribbling on the page "they obviously weren't after me or anything I had because nothing was missing so that means I think they were after luffy" Jane said "why?" Nami asked "well he does have a nice bounty and is well known someone might believe that they would be known well to have taken him down and they would get the Bounty" Jane said thinking "otherwise it could be his connections to something" Jane said Robin looked at the paper Jane was drawing on "I think she is right" Robin said the two began to explain and soon everyone understood better "so basically we have to find out who these people are and take them out?" Sanji said Jane nodded "pretty much" she confirmed unzipping her jacket she stretched cracking her back "well the log pose is set lets head to the next island" nami said cheerfully soon the anchor was raised and the sunny was well on it's way to the next island. jane sat in the kitchen once again with her book huddled on the couch reading peacefully the sound of sanji doing his usual stuff in the background she heard the sound of the door opening and she looked up she watched zoro approach and sit down beside her "what are you reading?" he asked quietly looking over hr shoulder. "a book" she sadi with her signature smirk he sighed "smart ass" he mumbled under his breath "what was that?" jane asked looking at him "smart ass" he said loud enough for her to hear him she giggled quietly at his frustration "whats your book about?" he asked "well this boook here is about a detective that is trying to find a man who is horrifically murdering familes in their homes" jane explained flipping through a few pages she moved closer to zoro to show him one of the pages as his eyes scanned each word he furrowed his eye brows more and more he finished after a minute or two he looked at jane who was waiting patciently for his imput he opened his mouth slightly before pausing " you like this stuff?" he asked jane nodded "actually yeah i think it's pretty cool" she said "ahhh jane you are still beautiful even when your talking about horrific deaths" sanji cooed from behind the counter jane laughed quietly as she watched zoro glare jane shook her head slightly before cuddling into zoro's chest and flipping back to her page as she began reading again she felt zoro shift slightly making himself comfortable then she felt him burry his face in her neck making her giggle quietly as she continued reding. After sitting there for maybe an hour of two sanji called everyone for dinner jane poked the sleeping swordsman causing him to wake and look at her confused "dinner" she said quietly moving over he chuckled as everyone entered the kitchen sitting down sanji passed out the food and everyone began eating quietly at first until luffy began trying to steal people food from their plates the sound of forks hitting the table and cries from luffy chatter soon broke out between everyone. "oi law" jane said "hm?" he mumbled turning to look at her "how long are you guys gonna be staying?" she asked law paused and brought a hand to his chin thinking "we have to get back to what we were doing but i think we could stay to help take out those assasins" law said jane nodded looking at luffy "sound like a plan cap?" she asked "yay traflguy is staying with us longer!" luffy cheered making everyone laugh "it seems the captain has taken quite the liking to you mr traflgar" robin said giggling quietly law shook his head and continued eating "robin you should'nt tease the poor guy" jane giggled robin shrugged "it's in my nature" she said the two laughed before continuing with their food dinner was filled with laughter and more teasing from robin dinner soon ended and everyone returned to their usual agenda jane had finally put down her book and wandered off to her bed room to put it away she flopped on her back down onto her bed with a content sigh she closed her eyes hearing heavy footsteps followed by the door opening and closing again she moved slightly before feeling a weight fall onto the bed beside her She turned her head to the side and slowly opened her eyes to see zoro whose eyes were half open she smiled "long day?" She asked "yup now it's time for bed" he said collecting Jane in his arms before shutting the light off and curling up properly in the bed Jane giggled "you've always been one to take action without wasting time" Jane said curling up against Zoro's chest.
