we're back at the penthouse in the living room. Nyla's friends kicked her out to interrogate me
"go ahead." I nod.
"What is her favourite book?" Briana starts.
"of all time?" I ask and she nods.
"The Hate U Give," I answer.
"correct." Briana nods.
"is she the fancy kind?" Jada asks.
"Nope." I shake my head.
and soon they start spit-firing questions.
"her dream school?"
"USC"
"your dream school?"
"don't really have one, Harvard maybe."
"what's your favourite thing about Nyla?"
"everything."
"least favourite."
"don't have one. unless it's her getting mad at me for buying her things."
"what's the best date you've taken her on?"
"Watching the sunset then rise."
"how many girls do you follow on Instagram?"
"um... I don't know. my cousins, Nyla, her friends. some celebrities. that's it" I shrug.
"what celebrities?"
"Kehlani, Billie, Zendaya, Ryan Destiny. . . I think that's it." I shrug again.
"what's your type or preference?"
"um. . . just not white girls. mostly black girls." I can feel my face getting red.
"Are you religious?"
"yes. Catholic."
"any ex's or past flings you're good with?"
"Nope."
"who's the most important person in your life?"
"my brother."
"would you pick your brother over Nyla?"
I think for a second. "yes"
"Have you ever done things with the opposite gender?"
"no"
"Do you want kids?"
"yes."

"yes."
