alex truly cherished each day that she got to spend with dave. she didn't know if this meant anything for the future. right now it seemed strictly business. dave was just taking care of her because of hotchs orders, she kept telling herself. it had been 4 days and alex had laid in dave's bed almost all day everyday. alex did notice that dave didn't seem uncomfortable when she asked him to lay with her. it seemed like he welcomed it. he had slept with her each night, holding her close and keeping her company.

john called her, asking when she would be home. she lied and told him they were on a case and she'd be home soon. she was planning on asking him for a divorce once she was fully healed.

"blake, you need to get up today." rossi called from the bathroom, snapping her out of her thoughts. he was running bath water for some reason.
"did you just call me blake?" she said, her face falling. she thought they were getting somewhere.
"my bad. alex." he said, rolling his eyes.
"what are you doing?" she asked suspiciously.
just then he walked into the bedroom and over to where she was laying on the bed. "i don't have a clue what you think yours doing but the answer is no." she said.
he smiled mischievously at her and reached around her shoulders , picking her up quickly.
"i know you don't want my help, but you need it." he answered.
she wrapped her arms around his neck and studied his face. what the hell is he doing. she wondered.
her eyes found the full bathtub and she looked at him nervously. "no." she whispered.
he set her on the edge of the bathroom counter and wrapped his arms around her, hugging her momentarily. "what was that for?" she breathed.
"my apology for this." he answered, as he began to help her take his shirt off of her. she reciprocated his touch. "dave let me do it." she answered, turning away from him, blushing.
"alex you can barely stand by yourself. please let me help you." he said quietly.
she turned back towards him, where he helped her remove the rest of her clothes. her breathing picked up when he lifted her off the ground and set her in the bathtub. she blushed, embarrassed that dave had to do everything for her. he noticed that her arms were littered with bruises, as well as her back. this confused him.

dave left the bathroom, giving her the privacy she longed for. after almost 15 minutes, he came back and handed her a towel. he momentarily left, giving her time to get dressed by herself. she stood up shakily and dried off. dave being the caring person he was, had driven to her house and gotten clothes for her. she dressed in a pair of shorts and a sweatshirt. she carefully walked out of the bathroom and immediately got into bed. dave walked into the bedroom "well well well, your doing better than i thought." he said, smiling at her. "i didn't expect to see you walking around." he continued.
"it wasn't easy." she said closing her eyes, visibly tired.
he chuckled, "i'll be in the guest-" alex didn't let him finish.
"you can stay."she said softly.
he looked at her carefully before getting into the bed next to her. they fell asleep together just like that.

when alex woke up the next morning, she felt strong arms around her. she was nestled into dave's arms and their legs were intertwined. her heart rate quickened as she realized what was happening. does dave feel the same way about me as i feel about him? she wondered.
she moved back over to her side, making sure not to wake him. she didn't want to push anything on him. he probably didn't want to date her. what was she thinking. she knew she was still technically married, but she needed to get out of there as soon as possible. john had been extremely violent ever since ethan died. he hit her constantly, blaming her for ethans death.

she lay awake thinking about how much she needed dave. she just couldn't bring herself to tell him. she needed to leave john, she had faded bruises all over her body, she hoped dave didn't see them when he helped her undress before putting her in the bathtub. she wasn't ready to talk about it, just like she wasn't ready to love again. she just couldn't keep her thoughts about dave out of her mind.

dave stirred next to her. alex couldn't help but admire the way his tan italian skin looked under the sunlight peeking through the curtains. he gravitated towards the warmth of her body, pressing himself against her back. his arms found their way around her waist and her breathing quickened. he could still give her butterflies even when he was asleep. alex relaxed into his arms, wishing she could continue a life or relationship with him.

minutes later, dave got out of bed and went downstairs. alex pretended to sleep in order to avoid talk about why they were cuddled together. he came back minutes later and went to shower. he was going back to work today, alex could go back to work the following day and was instructed to actually move around today. she lay in bed until dave got out of the shower, he walked from the bathroom to his closet, the towel hanging dangerously low on his hips. alex couldn't help but stare. once he was dressed he walked to alex's side of the bed. "i'll be back after work okay, bella?" (beautiful) he said, softly. alex rolled over towards him in response, she reached her arms around his neck, pulling him towards her in a quick hug. dave returned the hug comfortingly, before leaving.  the words replayed in her head, she smiled to herself. dave didn't know that alex spoke italian too. the thought of him calling her beautiful made her heart race and her head spin.
