"If I die, I'll take you with me, Lee. Do you know what the prediction is? Zero to a hundred, Lee. You lose."

Though at a slow pace, Shana's plan was working, and while she kept Lee busy, he remained oblivious to her sentence. Perhaps it was three or five minutes later, when a wave of energy flooded the entire tree, like a tsunami sweeping everything in its path. The environment around them seemed to shine brighter; little lights, like those of fireflies, floated and glowed in the air, repairing and nurturing everything they touched. The fairies themselves had to catch their breath and hold their breath at the immense power that flooded their senses, a sensory overload that left them reeling.

And then, from one moment to the next, a huge explosion was heard and felt. An explosion of energy whose shock wave was distributed throughout the tree in several regular impulses, like waves of the sea crashing against the shore. Unsurprisingly, and as planned, Lee fell apart with screams of pain, just as a vampire dies in the rays of the sun, his flesh crumbling and leaving the ash in his wake. Then came Shana's screams, and then all was silent.

The war was over. The gem tree was safe.

After a few seconds, everyone started screaming and crying with joy, hugging their loved ones and giving thanks for having survived.

Haneul remained motionless, her heart breaking into a thousand pieces at the loss of his sister.
