Haneul remained motionless, her heart breaking into a thousand pieces at the loss of his sister.

A week after the war, people were still talking about the epic battle. The news had gone around the world, the rest of the countries confirming that the effects of the shock wave had not only taken place within the tree of gems but had been felt globally. The video that Yoonseul recorded while they waited at the foot of the tree had gone viral in a matter of seconds, everyone awaiting the outcome, how things had happened, admiring the bravery of those who had gone to fight, and the courage of those who decided to help from outside.

Other media had spectacular images of the entire event seen from afar: a soft golden glow surrounded the tree while flowers of different colours, sizes and shapes opened on its branches; its trunk covered with vines as if it were a dress.

Hours later, the tree was still shining gracefully and majestically, like an illuminated Christmas tree in the middle of the main square. At dusk, people began to leave the tree through its bark, as if it were a thin layer of water and not resin. Their families came to their side to welcome them while the public that had gathered cheered them. Jungkook was among the last to leave, and Yoongi didn't think twice about running to find him.

When Jungkook saw him running towards him, a radiant smile was drawn on his face, full of happiness to see his soulmate again and to be able to hold him in his arms.

"I missed you. I was so worried about you." Yoongi said between sobs.

He couldn't stop happy tears from sliding down his face at the sight of Jungkook standing before him, safe and sound, smiling proudly like an athlete when he wins a medal.

"I know, I could feel it when I was in there. I felt how you transmitted all your energy to me so that I could endure."

Yoongi then gave him a kiss, one with which he wanted to express everything that his broken voice and full of emotion did not allow him in those moments. Jungkook responded immediately, pulling him towards him while putting his hand on his neck to move them and deepen the kiss. After a few seconds, they parted ways, the two of them with smiles on their faces.

"You're okay?" Yoongi was not referring to his general health, but to the possible consequences that his confrontation with Lee would have left.

"The truth is that my memories are a bit blurred. They say it is because of the shock wave. But I suppose it was tough, although not as tough as the possibility of failing my promise." Jungkook answered sincerely.

Yoongi rolled his eyes, feigning exasperation.

"Do not put that face. We both know you like me to say these things to you." Jungkook said with his lips pressed to his cheek and stretched into a smile.

The two parted and went to meet their friends, their faces beaming and their hands clasped.

"Oh by the way. I have news that is going to blow you away."

Jungkook looked at his boyfriend and raised an eyebrow. "What's more amazing than saving the gem tree?"

Yoongi simply smiled triumphantly before speaking. "Hoseok and Yoonseul are soul mates."

A moment of silence, and then ...

"What?! You're kidding me, right?"

Yoongi shook his head while still smiling.

"I pity you, Hyung. It's going to drive you crazy." Jungkook said once everyone welcomed him and showered him with hugs.

"Ignore him, Oppa. He's kidding you." Yoonseul said while making an innocent face.

"Oppa? You only know him one day and you already call him that." Jungkook replied incredulously.

"The connection has been intense, Jungkookie," Jimin said while patting him on the shoulder.

"Yes, well, but she only calls me Oppa when she wants to ask me for a favour or get her out of trouble. What a lack of respect."

"Welcome to the club." Jin and Yoongi said at the same time, making everyone laugh at their timing.

"You know I like you right?" Yoonseul asked him while hugging him from his right side.

"Yeah sure." He answered without much conviction and making it difficult for the girl.

"I'm serious!"

"Aha, whatever you say, Yoon." He said with a couple of pats on the head and then started walking in the direction of the path that would lead them to the road.

"Yah! Jeon Jungkook, don't agree with me like crazy. Come back here."

And that's how Yoonseul ended up chasing Jungkook the entire way, Jimin joining them soon after, the three of them smiling like when they were little.
