Yoongi saw the stars in his eyes again, the same ones that lit up the sky at night, and for the first time, he wanted to fly to reach them.

Since childhood, Jungkook had always fantasized about his soulmate, even before having his own gem. He was in awe of the fact that two people met by chance and suddenly their gems sparkled to let them know that the person before them was their fated soul, with whom they would spend the rest of their lives.

Of course, that was long before he learned that not everything was as wonderful as it was painted. When he learned that his soulmate had rejected his aunt, it left Jungkook confused, to say the least. He was used to seeing that those people who were meant to be together connected as their gems did and thus ended up together. It was logical. That is why his mind did not quite understand how someone could reject that person who was made for you. They had taught him that gems allowed you to know who your soul mate was; You didn't have to go on long journeys to find her, nor did you have to get depressed at the prospect of being alone. They all had their other half in a person who would come into their life at the right time.

Over the years, and after knowing certain things that most of the population turned a blind eye to, and many others were simply unaware of their existence, Jungkook could understand why these people rejected their other half. Because even if the gems connected you with that other person, it was their decision what kind of relationship they were going to have. People took it for granted that the future boyfriend, husband and father of their children was in their other half; but they were wrong.

When Jimin warned him it would be difficult, if not impossible, to talk to Yoongi, his brain reminded him that not everyone wanted to meet that special someone, some simply didn't care or didn't want to go through the same suffering that those others had gone through close to them. Jungkook knew this, but still couldn't help but feel excited that he had found his soul mate. Anyone else who had seen and experienced the same thing as him in the few years he had inhabited the planet, would have lost that illusion. But Jungkook, no, he still wanted to know about that other person, what he liked, what he thought, his dreams, if he liked music, or reading, or painting. He just wanted to know who he was, to see who had been put in his path.

Unfortunately, Yoongi was one of those people who couldn't bear, nor wanted, to talk about soulmates; he preferred to continue his life as if he had no one. At that moment, Jungkook remembered how devastated his aunt was after being rejected. This gem thing had its positive side and its negative side, like all things, and depending on how you look at it, your reaction would be different. If you were expecting a fairy tale and the other person rejected you, it was understandable that you sank into despair. The trick was not expecting anything, but that was an impossible task for a human being, as everyone fantasized or wondered what their life would be like in three months or a couple of years.

And Jungkook, although he had been warned by Jimin that Yoongi wanted nothing to do with him, he was not discouraged and endured like a champion. He rarely had much patience, but he would go out of his way for his soulmate. I'd give him all the time in the world to take in.

Jimin was torn between respecting Yoongi's decision - even if it didn't seem logical and he disagreed with it - and helping his best friend. Because he knew Jungkook was special, he was not like the others. After thinking about it a lot, and talking about it with Taehyung, Jimin helped him, and Jungkook was going to make sure that he never regretted it.

Jungkook knew Jimin cared a lot for Yoongi, and it all had to do with that unpleasant experience from his past. His friend hadn't gone into details, and Jungkook wasn't interested in knowing if it was not Yoongi himself; Furthermore, from a logical point of view, that information was of no use to him in the situation in which he found himself, it would only make him more nervous.

So all he had to do was go to that cafe where Yoongi had summoned him to and show him that soulmates weren't as bad as he thought. And he got it. He did not know how it had been, or if his speech had had something to do with it, but he had succeeded, and it filled him with joy.

The first to know had been Jimin and Taehyung, of course, mostly because he was staying at their house until he found an apartment to himself. Later he told his mother, Hana and Yoonseul, his best friend, the latter assuring that "now that you have found him, you're already a man."

"And what was I before exactly?"

"A baby." She had answered without flinching and laughing.

Anyway, Jungkook was excited and happy to have found his soul mate and to have been able to understand them. He knew that it wouldn't be easy, but he had already taken the first step which was always the most difficult.

The first time they met again after that day in the cafeteria, it was at Jin and Namjoon's house. For him, it was the second time he had visited his house -the first having been during Jimin's birthday-, but it was the first time he had met Yoongi.

When Jungkook arrived - accompanied by Jimin and Taehyung - Yoongi was already there, sitting on the couch and talking to Namjoon about something quite interesting for both of them, as they kept gesturing with their hands. They probably hadn't even realized they had arrived. Jungkook felt a bit relieved because that gave him time to control his nerves; They may have agreed to start as friends, but they didn't know each other, and Jungkook didn't quite know how to behave around him other than calling him Hyung.

Although his nerves didn't last long once he had his plate of food on the table. Not that Jimin or Taehyung cooked badly at all, but what Jin did with food could be considered something worthy of the gods; His restaurant was understandably so successful.

"Jimin told us you and he studied together in high school. Did you decide to study the same as him at the university?" Yoongi asked him. It was the typical icebreaker question, but Jungkook didn't care in the least.
