Straight Face

"Do you really need to go?" Zander asked with tears at the corner of his eyes.

I already told madame my decision, and I am now packing my things up in the varsity's locker. Mukhang nasabi na ni dean kay Paps at sinabi naman ni paps sa mga aso ko.

"Talaga bang hindi na mababago ang desisyon mo?" This time it was Anton.

I smiled while looking at their faces. Mahigit tatlong taon din iyon.

"Pasensya na kung ngayon ko kayo iiwan kung kailan may laro sa susunod na linggo." I smiled sadly at them.

"No problem, cap! Tinuruan mo kaming mabuti kaya alam kong kaya namin 'to. Kakayanin namin." Ani Mike na pangiti-ngiti. "Sino bang niloloko ko? Masakit cap!" Tumalikod siya at umiyak sa balikat ni Zander.

"Hoy! Huwag ka ngang ganiyan! Ikaw ang susunod na captain nila kaya tama na ang kagaguhan!" I tried to laugh for it to sound as a joke but I didn't know it was this hard.

"Ikaw parin ang nag-iisang Captain Sungit namin kahit anong mangyari!" Ang tahimik na si Neil ang nagsalita.

"We wish you success cap mander! Salamat sa lahat." Drake wiped his eyes as if tears were there. Ang mapang-asar na Drake ay 'di ko na mahagilap.

My lips quivered when I tried to suppress my tears. I smiled to bit back my tears. Ginulo ko isa-isa ang mga buhok nila.

"Alam kong kaya niyo. So you should own it! What do I always tell you?" I smiled at them. They looked like nursery students who were on a first day and scared to be left by their guardian.

"Northern spades never fades!" Sabay-sabay nilang sagot na parang mga sundalo. Sumaludo pa sila.

Pagkaalis ko ay dumiretso na ako sa Callé cáfe, a famous cafe and study hub. Doon ako magpa-part time and today is my first day. Rei helped me get in, I already told them my decision and they're really supporting me.

This is actually a huge challenge for me since I now only have a whole week before the submission of requirements and I am thankful that I have such amazing and very supportive back ups.

I already have a passport and visa doon ko inilaan ang nakuha kong honor loot mula sa napanalunan naming brain games ni Lin. May natira pa naman pero kulang, hindi naman kalakihan ang kulang, mga humigit kumulang sampong libo and I need to find a whole ten thousand in just a week.

Habang naglalakad ako, para makatipid, ay kinikwenta ko ang perang makukuha ko at oras na ilalaan ko.

May nagpapagawa sa akin ng plates at binabayaran ako, alam kong mali pero kailangan e kaya pumayag na ako. Tapos na rin naman ako sa mga plates ko.

Today I will be working at the cafe for five hours and that would be from, our dismissal, 5 o'clock to ten or earlier, kung papalarin. Then when I get home I'll be finishing three plates tonight. I can do it for thirty minutes each, I think. Well depends on my mood.

Malaki rin ang kita ko sa paggawa ng plates ng iba. Well mayayaman naman sila kaya barya lang iyon.

If I can do the thirty-minutes-each then I'll be of to bed by eleven thirty or twelve and ready for tomorrow's errands.

"Ah kapagod!" I stretched my arms and legs, I even twisted my neck.

The streets were still busy kaya nakasakay pa ako ng jeep pauwi. Kaya lang kailangan ko pang lakarin mula sa entrance ng subdivision hanggang sa mansion ng mga Ramirez.

"Oh ma'am Secret!" The mansion's guard opened the gate for me. Masyado akong pagod para bigyan pa siya ng pansin.

"Naku, baby Sekreto ko!" Mamangs hugged me when she saw me. "Anong oras na oh, kanina ka pa hinihintay ng kapatid mo."
