Wet and Broken

I immediately called Rei to come over if she ain't busy to talk about what happened last night.

"Oh yes. You were so lasing and Lincoln made hila sa'yo sa kung saan-saan." She answered while looking for a nice suit for my meeting.

"What?! Bakit hindi mo 'ko pinigilan?!"

"E you said you can handle him." Nagkibit balikat ito. "And besides you were in your ancestral mansion so no worries."

"Baliw ka ba?!" Napahilamos ako sa mga palad ko. "Paano ko haharapin ang lalaking iyon ngayon. Malay ko kung anong kagagahan ang ginawa't pinagsasasabi ko ro'n."

"Chill, it's just Lincoln. Ang isipin mo ngayon ay ang plan niyo for the pre-school. Gumawa ka na ba ng sketches?" She raised a brow.

"You know how I work. Always a step ahead." I rolled my eyes. Tumango naman siya.

"That's good. Anyways, use this nalang then I will make ayos sa hair mo." She threw me a one piece checkered suit, mustard in color. Pumayag naman ako agad dahil iyon din ang tipo kong mga damit.

Saktong alas dose na nang sumakay kami ni Rei sa kotse ko, my sweet Mercedes. Papahatid daw siya sa mall sira raw kasi ang kotse niya. 'Di ko alam kung ang BMW o iyong McLaren pakiramdam ko iyon isa lang ang nasiraan at iyon isa ay iniwan kung saan-saan.

"Dito ka na lang ba?" I asked as I pulled over at the mall.

"Yeah. I'll call you nalang. Mabilis lang talaga ako promise." She unbuckled her seatbelt and waved her hand as she walk away.

Saktong twelve-thirty naman nang dumating ako sa restaurant na sinasabi ni Lin. I asked a waitress for Lincoln's reservation iginaya niya naman ako sa isang bakanteng mesa.

"Nasa'n na ba ang lalaking 'yon?" I asked myself. Lumapit ang isang waiter at tinanong kung ano ang gusto ko pero hindi muna ako um-order dahil hihintayin ko muna ang bakulaw na iyon.

I was impatiently tapping my fingers on the table when my stomach rumbled. So when another waiter came to ask. I immediately ordered pesto and a bowl of salad.

I looked at my watch and realized why I am so hungry. It's already quarter to two! Letche talaga ang lalaking iyon!

I looked at his number in my inbox. I was on the verge of pressing the 'call' icon when it suddenly rang.

It's his number!

"Letche! Anong oras na oh!" Agad kong sigaw sa kaniya.

"I'm sorry but I can't be there today. We will talk some other day." He said in a monotone. Parang walang pakialam na sinayang niya lang ang dalawang oras ko.

"Tss. You do know that you wasted my time? Oh! So unethical."

He sighed.

"I just had an important emergency."

"So you think this lunch meeting isn't as important?"

"Look, engineer. If you can't let a simple emergency slip then feel free to back out. I can look for an engineer just fine." I heard him 'tsk'ing.

Oh, that brute!

I was about to lash out again but Shy's smiling face suddenly flashed in my mind.

I sighed.

"I am doing this for Shy. Fine, I will let this slip. I was just hoping that you could've notified me earlier." I said in a more calm tone of voice.

"It's settled then. I'll just send you the details soon." His final words before ending the call.

Napakatalaga! Talagang pinatayan ako ng tawag! Lalo lang akong nainis nang mailibot ko ang aking paningin at nakitang halos lahat ng tao ay may kasamang kumain. Ako lang yata ang solo.
