It's finally the end of our exams, and I can't deny the immense relief I feel.

It's as if a heavy weight has been lifted off my shoulders, well, almost everything, because now a new set of challenges awaits. I hesitate to call them burdens, but rather a series of obstacles. Everything is happening so rapidly.

We've completed our final exams, and the upcoming award ceremony is just around the corner. I have mixed feelings about it- I'm both eager and terrified. I find myself praying to be among the three students awarded scholarships to attend my dream college, where I can be with my best friends and boyfriend.

Speaking of college, many students in my school have received acceptance letters from various universities. However, there are still some, including myself, who haven't submitted their applications yet.

Abby, Declan, and Josh are constantly urging me to send in my applications, even though I haven't started writing them.

They seem to believe that I have already completed them.

Sending in my applications has become the only way to convince them that I am absolutely certain about my college plans.

It's currently around nine-thirty in the evening, and I'm sitting on my couch, flipping through a magazine while waiting for my mother to return home.

She should be back any moment now.

I'm eager to talk to her about my dad since I haven't spoken to him in weeks. I want to know if he'll be able to join us next week, whether I receive the scholarship or not.

I sigh and shake my head, contemplating these thoughts, when suddenly, my phone rings. Glancing at the screen, I see that it's a video call from Abby and Declan. A smile forms on my face as I eagerly answer.

"Hey," I greet them.

"Exams are finally fucking over, thank God," Abby beams, sighing in relief, "I am so glad. You have no idea! Stress free and no more late night studying! Sooo how are you doing?"

"I am doing good, thank you-"

"Declan shut up, I wasn't talking to you!" Abby snaps.

"Hey!" I chuckle, not wanting them to fight.

"He's literally sitting next to me, and I don't know why he had to join the call," she scoffs then Declan pops his head on Abby's screen, waving at me, but she slaps his head, causing him to hurriedly move away, groaning, "Anyways, we are celebrating our end of year exams and we are wondering if you'd want to join?" She chirp happily.

"I wish I could, but unfortunately, it's not possible. I can not join you all tonight. My mom has to work late, so I have to take care of my younger brother and sister, who are currently asleep. Moreover, there's something important I need to discuss with my mom when she returns home."

I was really looking forward to celebrating with them.

"That's alright, we can always plan another celebration for a different occasion," Abby reassures me.

"Yeah, we can celebrate after graduation, after the homecoming game, or even when we receive acceptance letters from our dream colleges!" Declan exclaims, a wide smile spreading across his face.

Despite his excitement, I couldn't help but feel a tinge of sadness.

"I can't wait," I whisper softly.

"Me neither," Abby responds simultaneously, just as the front door swings open, signaling my mom's arrival.

"Guys, I have to go. My mom is home now."
