My heart pounds out of my chest as she gets ready to call the first name. I still don't know why I am so nervous when I don't need the scholarship. Someone else who deserves it should get it. Ah! Why am I so freaking nervous? Why do I want to get it so much?

"The first scholarship goes too..." I sigh watching students getting nervous around me. "Page Wright!" Two more left to go. I watch as Page walks up the steps. "James Peterberks!" I watch as he walks up the steps. "Last but not least welcome Annabelle Frazer!" My mouth is slightly open and I couldn't process if I heard right. Abby, Josh, and Declan begin to shake me in enjoyment.

"Annabelle that's you!" I still couldn't say anything I am in shock.

"Go collect your money girl!" Abby says. I finally get back to my senses and stand headed towards the podium hearing students and parents clap. I am so proud of myself I can believe this, all my hard-working came to something.

"Go, Annabelle! Wooh!" Josh yells and I chuckle. I went up the steps and walk towards Mrs. Marshall, she hands me the cheque and shook my hand while the camera flashes.

"Congratulations Annabelle," Mrs. Marshall says and I thank her, "And is your dad here?" What the actual fuck! Now I am curious as to why she asks that while I am heartbroken that he didn't show up. What does she and Ms. Johnson wants with my dad?

I give her a disbelieving look, "No," then I walk away back down at my seat where my best friends and boyfriend congratulate me once again.

"Oh, I almost forgot all three of you must meet me at my office after the ceremony."

"Congrats girl. I knew you were gonna pass."

I make my way towards the principal office and enter the lounge outside her office. Couple of minutes I see one of the students exit the door so I go inside next seeing Mrs. Marshall sitting around her desk scrubbing her nails.

"Mrs. Marshall?"

"Yes, sit Annabelle," she points at the chair before she and I go and sit curiously to why we have to see her. "First of all, I want to say congrats I never knew you you had it in you. I thought you were one of the good-for-nothing students, but I thought wrong," I look at her as if she's crazy even though I know she is then roll my eyes.

"What am I here for and cut to the case!" I tell her irritated.

She rolls her eyes going back to scrubbing her nails then brings her feet up on the desk crossing them, "It's about your scholarship."

"What about it?"

"The scholarship you got is not to attend the college you chose to go to but it is a scholarship that is from a particular college," I swallow knowing that if it wasn't for my mom and dad I would've had to go to a college that wasn't my dream college. I nod understandably. There is no need for the scholarship anyway because my mom had things planned out. "The scholarship you got was Standford college and your GPA is eligible to attend, I will just send your info-"

"No need for that Mrs. Marshall. I know I signed up for that scholarship but my mom has everything planned out for me, furthermore Standford wasn't one of my dream colleges."

"You're saying you are no longer interested in the scholarship?" She asks and I nod. It wouldn't make any sense to attend a university so far away from my friends, home, and boyfriend which is not even my dream college. So it is best to decline the offer.

"My mom had money saved for the college of my dreams, so it's best to decline."

"Are you sure Annabelle because most people aren't when they refuse to take it and come running back, but always when it's too late?"
