(I can imagine every time y/n dies she says, "Mi muhe mita nye..." or "Sorry, Matr...")

(I have effectively made myself cry ;-;)

Y/n blinked at the food in front of her then the girl who had cooked it and was staring at her with hopeful eyes.

"You... want y/n... to eat this...?"

"Mhm!"

Y/n gave the girl a frown, "Ah...okay..."

She took a curious bite, just to experiment and her eyes brightened almost immediately. It was good!

"Ah! Spicy! Shato... pyro slimes!" y/n chimed with bright e/c eyes, amazed, "You added pyro slimes!"

"Oh! You like it!" the girl in front of y/n gasped and she nodded eagerly, eagerly inhaling the dish.

"Wait, you've eaten pyro slimes-!?" a new voice demanded, shocked and somewhat horrified.

Y/n turned her head to beam at the two boys sitting at a table not far off, "Mmmmhm! Slimes not bad. You should try. Ah! Wait-!"

The girl picked up her bowl and rushed over to the two boys, "Try! Eleka!"

"I'll pass."

"Yeah, same here."

Y/n looked back at the girl who had given her the food and the female smiled to show her it was alright.

"It's okay if they don't want to try it!" she assured the h/c haired girl, "I'm just really glad you enjoyed it, n/n!"

Y/n blinked. Then she blinked again.

"Nye."

"W-What do you mean nye-"

"Everyone must try the food." y/n said simply then caught one of her friends in a headlock before he could run, "Stay still Ice Boy, you must eat the food."

While the girl watched in worry as her e/c eyed friend force-fed the screeching boy she'd caught in a headlock, the other boy simply reading as if nothing was happening.

"Olah odomuuuuu~!" y/n exclaimed with bright eyes, walking right into the Wanmin Restaurant after happily greeting the owner who seemed to know her.

The girl with black hair looked up then turned to y/n with bright eyes, "Y/n! It's you!"

"Yes! It is I! The great y/n!" the h/c haired girl exclaimed proudly and was taken aback when she recieved a hug from Xiangling. She didn't expect it but hey, she wasn't complaining either.

"Aether. Paimon. This is my odomu, Xiangling!" y/n chirped, embracing the chef and giving her an affectionate nuzzle on the cheek as a greeting, "Xiangling, this is Aether and Paimon. Also my odomu!"

"Ah! Traveler!" Xiangling exclaimed, "I didn't know you and y/n were friends! What a nice surprise!"

"Well, Paimon and I have only just recently earned that title." Aether chuckled as y/n gave him a smile.

"So, what brings you three here?" Xiangling asked and y/n perked up, immediately excited again.

"Ah, right! Paimon, Aether and I need you to help us cook a really special dish!" y/n exclaimed, "Sugar-Frosted Slime!"

"I'm not surprised. Y/n does like dishes with slimes in it-" Xiangling said to nobody in particular and Aether wheezed.

"W-WHAT? Y/N LIKES SLIMES!?"

"N-NYE! NYE I DON'T!"

Xiangling smiled as y/n let out a miserable noise, hiding behind her, "Y/n really likes pyro slimes. They taste spicy to her."

"Wow... I never knew that..." Aether murmured as y/n violently shook Xiangling, "Is that healthy?"

"WHY WOULD YOU TELL THEM THAT!?" y/n whined while Xiangling laughed.

"Sorry, sorry." she apologized, "Do you have the ingredients and a recipe? It's fine if you don't, I can always improvise!"

"We've got the ingredients but Paimon didn't make a recipe." Paimon said awkwardly, "Sorry about that."

Y/n raised her hand, "I can help you make it, Xiangling. I have a good idea how to."

Xiangling beamed, her golden eyes bright, "Great! Let's get to work then, y/n!"

Aether watched curiously as Y/n and Xiangling cooked together. He was amazed by how comfortable y/n looked.

Typically, the girl was on edge or hostile around others but she seemed really happy being beside Xiangling.

Occasionally, the two females would playfully bump hips with one another and giggle quietly.

"Xiangling and y/n seem to be really close. Paimon hasn't seen y/n act like that around many people." Paimon commented.

"...mhm." Aether replied.

The pixie smirked at the blond, "Oh? Hold on a second. Are you jealous, Aether?"

Aether panicked, "Pfft, no! Of course not! I have no reason to be!"

"Your reactions and facial expressions say otherwise." Paimon chuckled.

"Paimon! We finished! How much sugar do you want to add?" y/n announced, "Here, come see!"

Paimon floated over, "Hm... more."

Y/n added more.

"More."

Y/n added even more.

This repeated several more times before Paimon decided it was enough. One more time, and Ningguang would've been in real danger.

"It looks so good!" y/n breathed, staring at the dish but shook her head, "Nye, I must not eat it!"

"I could always make you some." Xiangling offered and y/n's eyes rounded with amazement.

"Seriously?"

"Mhm!"

"Then I will come back for more another time!" y/n exclaimed, e/c eyes bright like stars, "Tomo, Xiangling!"

"Of course! See you guys around!" Xiangling called as y/n picked up the dish and left the restaurant, Aether and Paimon following.

"Exactly how many people do you know in Liyue?" Aether asked the girl as they made their way towards the harbor.

"Uh... about eight if you include the old man, Baizhu, Qiqi and the snake." y/n murmured.

"Eight?" Paimon questioned, "Paimon doesn't believe it! There's no way you know that many people!"

"Mitachurls have friends too, y'know." y/n pointed out, "There's Childe, Xiangling, Xingqiu, Chongyun, Baizhu, Qiqi, the snake and old man!"

"How long have you known Xiangling?" Aether asked y/n, 'At least five years considering how comfortable they are with each other.'

"Two years."

"Two years!?" Aether and Paimon yelped.

Y/n nodded, "I returned to Liyue after they let me out of the hospital two years back after the... accident. I got lost and that's when I met Xiangling. She gave me food for free."

"Paimon's not surprised." Paimon murmured, "The name Xingqiu sounds familiar to Paimon..."

"Hm..." y/n mumbled, "Blue hair, hydro vision, likes books, Guhua Clan?"

"Ohhh, that Xingqiu!" Aether and Paimon said in usion before Aether asked, "How did you get to know him?"

"Well..." y/n trailed, "He lets me borrow some of his books sometimes. And he teaches me big words!"

"Where has this newfound love of books suddenly come from?" Paimon asked.

Y/n smiled, "I do not know."
