"And I was like- go away you meanie! Then it threw me and I blacked out for an entire day."

Xiao gave y/n a blank look as she finished her story, "Are you okay?"

"I think so..." y/n murmured then grinned, "Yeah, I'm okay!"

"You're clearly not..."

Hehe, you thought y/n was befriending Xiao? She has already claimed him as an odomu and he has no say in it!

But he seemed to enjoy her company.

Maybe just a little.

Okay, he really enjoyed her company.

Being in the carefree, bright eyed and bushy tailed gal's presence was refreshing. And for once in who knows how long, Xiao felt somewhat at peace.

Even if y/n can be annoying, she had become Xiao's safe space. Is safe space the right word or is it source of comfort?

Meh, doesn't matter.

The point is that they're comfortable around one a other, Xiao has a counselor and a friend and y/n has won over the edgy, tofu loving yaksha.

How did Xiao warm up to y/n so quickly? He didn't know. Y/n didn't know. Heck, I don't even know.

"Welp, time for me to go!" y/n announced, standing up and giving Xiao a smile, "I'll be back tomorrow, okay."

Xiao grunted in reply and y/n pouted.

"I mean, if you're so disappointed about me leaving, I could stay here." y/n, murmured, crossing her arms, "Oh-"

She had been being sarcastic but when she was the hopeful look in Xiao's eye.

He seemed to notice that she noticed that it was there and quickly looked away, "No, go ahead. I'm sure you have important things to do."

"Me? Important things to do?" y/n inquired then laughed, "That's funny, Xiao. I have almost nothing to do! Everyone's busy right now so I'm pretty much on my own until they finish up."

"Well then you can stay here." Xiao hummed and pat the space beside him with a hand.

Y/n beamed, emitting an aura similar to similar to that of a very, very happy puppy.

She plopped down on the ground next to Xiao and poked his nose, "Hey, I have questions for you, mister."

If there was one thing Xiao didn't like about y/n's company, it was that she always had questions.

"Ask away..."

"If you had the chance to leave behind your responsibilities for..." y/n paused, "Let's say a month. Where would you go?"

"I dunno."

"I will not accept that answer!"

Xiao gave the girl an exasperated look, "Well you never said I couldn't say 'I don't know', did you?"

"Well, I didn't but that should go without saying!" y/n whined, shaking Xiao by his shoulder, "Now answer!"

"I'm not sure..." Xiao admitted, "I haven't ventured outside of Liyue much."

"Huh??? Seriously?" y/n demanded then sighed, "Ah... well... hm, there isn't much I can do about that..."

Y/n sat there, pondering while Xiao watched in silence. Suddenly, she perked up again and jumped to her feet.

"I'll be right back!" she exclaimed then darted away before Xiao could say anything else.

Y/n returned two hours later and dropped a bag on the ground in front of Xiao.

He stared at it for a moment before looking at y/n, "What is this?"

"Pictures!" she chirped, digging around in the bag and pulling out a photo of Dragonspine, "This is my home! Dragonspine! The place I told you so much about!"

Xiao took the picture from y/n and stared at it, "It looks pretty cold."

"Meh, people say it's cold but it feels pretty decent to me." y/n saidbwith a shrug, "The snow there never melts and there's a frost bearing tree that gives me crystals whenever I bring crimson ores or whatever they're called to it! I'm saving up in crystals so I can give them to Aether later."

"Oh, what about this one?" Xiao held up a photo of Bennett running away from a Ruin guard.

"Oh, that's Bennett-" y/n murmured, "It was supposed to be a picture of an electro cube."

"An electro cube?" Xiao questioned.

"Electro Hypostasis is what Mise Lisa told me it was." y/n explained, "This picture is of Wolvendom! The cutie in the tree is Razor, another one of my good friends!"

"Andddd what about this one?"

Y/n smiled but she looked like she was dying inside, "I was trying to take a picture of some ruins but a Ruin Hunter got in the way..."

"You're just a magnet for trouble, aren't you?" Xiao asked the girl and she whined.

"It's not like I can help it...!" she complained, "Hmph, here, look."

She passed another photo to Xiao and he blinked, taking it and observing.

"Y/n, what the heck-"

"It's a pretty flower!" y/n chirped.

Xiao showed her the picture which was her smiling into a camera while a Cryo Regisvine prepared to attack her in the background.

"Okay, it's a pretty flower that wanted to kill me." y/n corrected herself.

Xiao shook his head at the girl, "Sometimes I wonder how you're still alive."

"Cool, me too." y/n chimed.

Y/n continued showing Xiao the pictures she'd taken of every spot she explored that wasn't in Liyue.

The one with the giant boar that she ended up being thrown off the mountain for.

One with Albedo and Sucrose.

One of the library in Mondstadt.

One with y/n holding both Kaeya and Diluc in head locks to keep them still.

The pictures she'd taken consisted of her friends, the land she'd explored and the place where she'd spent most of her childhood.

"And this one is Angel's Share. A tavern! I go there to get snacks and something nice to drink!" y/n exclaimed.

"Aren't you too young to drink?" Xiao inquired and y/n scowled at him.

"Shut up, I'm eighteen!" she snapped, "I may not look like it but I'm an adult!"

"I don't recommend that you drink 'as much as you want', that's how you end up as an alcoholic." Xiao told the girl.

'Like Venti?' y/n wondered, "You know, once whatever contract you have with Rex Lapis is fulfilled, I can take you to all these places."

"You'd probably be dead by the time that happens." Xiao commented.

"What if I'm a God in disguise and I do live long enough to see the day you're able to venture outside of Liyue?" y/n questioned.

Xiao rolled his eyes, "You are definitely not a God, you're too dumb to be one."

"Hey! Don't be so mean!" y/n whined.

Xiao huffed and ruffled the girl's hair, earning a happy look from y/n.

"Your company is enough for me."

"Hehe, so you do like me!"

"Stop."
