3rd Person POV

Y/n liked Xingqiu. He was one of her closest friends and ther were so many things about him that intrigued her.

But he was bold. Like-

-extremely bold.

Y/n often found herself flustered around him, unable to form sentences

Like...

"Good Morning y/n, you look stunning to today." Xingqiu greeted as y/n was stunning towards him for a hug.

The girl visibly died inside before she tripped over her own foot and fell face first on the ground. She didn't get up.

Andddd

"Ooo, look at the sky...! So pretty!" y/n breathed, her e/c eyes sparkling as her and Xingqiu walked towards Liyue Harbor.

The boy looked up from his book to look at the starry sky instead then turned his attention to the awestruck girl beside him.

"Hm... it is quite pretty but I'd rather look at you. You're much more stunning."

"D-Dala?" y/n squeaked, face heating up.

So you can imagine how she immediately shut down when Xingqiu suggested that they cuddle together and read.

"...y/n?"

"I'M FINE."

Y/n shook her head violently, as she plopped down beside her friend under the shade of the tree they'd found.

"Can you read to me? I don't feel like reading aloud." y/n hummed as she got comfortable, using her cloak as a blanket.

"Of course, is there a specific book you would like me to read?" Xingqiu asked and his face was tinted with pink as y/n tipped over and rested her head on his lap, a content look on her face.

"Mmm, nye... whatever book you're reading is fine..." she murmured quietly, "Your voice is really soothing... you could be reading a book about murder and I'd still be able to fall asleep listening to your voice..."

Y/n. What have you done.

Xingqiu sat there for a moment, forgetting how to function before he snapped out of it, "Alright then."

Y/n closed her eyes as Xingqiu began to read. She wasn't paying attention to the words but his voice instead. Mainly his voice. Definitely not anything else.

The h/c haired girl began to relax a little, letting her guard down so she could just enjoy being close to her friend.

She internally screamed when Xingqiu played with her hair a little. It was almost as good as headpats but better than hugs.

'Ahhh, yes. I love affection.' y/n decided.

You know what else y/n likes?

Sleep.

•••

Xingqiu had no idea what to do.

No idea.

He'd never been in this situation before.

The male was internally screaming despite his calm expression as he played with y/n's hair, the girl fast asleep with her head in his lap.

She seemed content, relaxed.

A huge contrast to her usual alert and hostile demeanor. Now that Xingqiu saw the peaceful look on his friend's face, he realized that was a facade.

That brave and headstrong aura y/n exuded. It was just there to protect her.

Though Xingqiu didn't understand why he was glad she trusted him enough to let down her guard around him.

"Hmmm, don't go..." she muttered in her sleep, "Don't leave me please..."

Ah, crap.

'Should I wake her?' Xingqiu wondered as the girl's brows furrowed, 'Is she having a bad dream? But if I wake her up she might be upset...'

"Mosi gusha-" y/n mumbled then jolted awake, "NOT AGAIN, NYE, I REFUSE-!"

"Y/n?"

Y/n looked at Xingqiu in alarm, "Oh! Xingqiu, aha, you're done reading already."

The boy smiled, "You fell asleep."

"I did...?" y/n murmured then her cheeks heated up, "Oh... I did. Sorry."

"No need to apologize." Xingqiu assured her, "You know, if you're still tired, we can stay here."

Y/n opened her mouth to reply but yawned instead, covering her mouth with a squeak.

Xingqiu merely chucked, "Tired?"

"Yeah..."

He rubbed y/n's head, putting down the book he held with his free hand so he could hold y/n's hand instead, "Go ahead and sleep. We can stay here as long as you'd like."

Y/n smiled sleepily at her friend, "Tomo..."

"You're welcome." Xingqiu replied with an affectionate smile, "Sweet dreams, y/n."

(I feel like crying rn, why can't he be real?)
