3rd Person POV

Y/n had been, quite literally, dragged out of the rain the night before.

Diluc had just so happened to have been passing by when he found the h/c haired girl sleeping soundly in the branches of a tree despite being pummeled by rainwater.

After several attempts to convince the girl to not sleep in the rain, Diluc resorted to dragging her out of the tree.

He took a boot to the face several times but eventually managed to get y/n down, sling her over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes and wander on back to Dawn Winery despite his friend threatening to cut off his hair the entire time.

Now, y/n was staring at a chess board with narrowed eyes in silence.

The h/c haired girl had grown accustomed to playing by herself. Especially since Diluc was always busy with whatever he did in the morning.

Y/n hummed quietly, glaring at the pieces. She was playing against herself. Every move she made, she walked to the other side of the table, pondered then made her decision.

A couple of housekeepers had stopped to watch the focused girl as she hesitated, her hand hovering above a piece.

Thus could end one of three ways...

She gave up

She gave up and flipped the table-

Or she continued playing

"How much do you want to bet that she gives up?" one of the maids whispered to another.

"I bet five hundred mora."

"Six hundred mora!"

"I think she might actually beat herself this time." another whisper, "I'm betting... eight hundred mora."

"You've got yourself a deal."

Y/n's loud sigh interrupted the maids' conversation as she finally moved a chess piece.

She got up, walked to the other side and sat down again, head resting on her hands.

Her brows raised and her eyes lit up a little and all the maids flinched when the girl aggressively slammed a chess piece down.

"AHA!" she exclaimed, "TAKE THAT, ME! I WIN YOU LOSE, HAHA!"

(*curls up in a corner and sobs*)

"Oh no..." one of the maids murmured, covering their face while the one who had bet eight hundred mora beamed.

"Pay up." she ordered and the others reluctantly handed the mora over.

Y/n looked so proud of herself when she sat down on the floor, legs crossed. It was a little awkward, considering that she was wearing a dress but that was okay.
