And she didn't seem as excited a she usually was to be back in Liyue.
"Huh? Why would there be something wrong?" y/n inquired then smiled, "I'm fine."
"Really? You've been avoiding Dain at all costs." Paimon pointed out, "Paimon thought you wanted to fight him!"
Y/n titled her head, "Who's Dain?"
Paimon sighed, "Danny..."
"Ohhhh, yeah. I don't wanna fight him." y/n said with a shrug, "He's way too weak."
"Excuses, excuses..." Aether sighed and y/n glared at him, crossing her arms.
"Hmph! Whatever!" she huffed, "What're we doing in Liyue anyways? Are we here to see the Old Man or something?"
'What in the-' Aether wondered.
The way y/n had said Old Man. It held no affection or excitement like it usually did.
Seriously, what was going on with y/n?
"No... we were going to visit the Adventurer's Guild here." Paimon spoke before Aether could.
"Sounds boring..." y/n murmured, "You guys go ahead, I'll just wait here."
Y/n sat down in the shade of a building, giving her two friends a thumbs up.
They gave her concerned looks but wandered on over to the Adventurer's Guild to do whatever they needed to do.
Y/n, however, began to sink into her thoughts.
'I wish I'd never left home that day.' she realized, 'I miss being naive. I miss the ignorance that came with my lack of exposure to the cruel world I just so happened to have been born in. And knowledge-'
Y/n's grip on her forearms tightened as her eyes narrowed, 'It's a curse.'
"Y/n! Come on!" Paimon chirped, snapping the girl out of her thoughts, "We're gonna track down a thief!"
"Oh. Okay." y/n murmured, getting up.
'Is she okay?' Aether wondered.
'Y/n is acting really strange. Did someone do something to her?' Paimon wondered, 'Grrr... Paimon will track them down!'

Y/n's energy seemed to return when they made it to whatever this place was.
A big domain, probably real dangerous, stood before the trio as y/n stared at it with sparkling eyes. There were probably lots of killable monsters in it!
"Woahhhh! This place is amazing!" y/n breathed and began tugging on Aether's arm, "Come onnnn, I wanna explore!"
Even if he was being dragged around, Aether was happy to see y/n being herself again.
"It's dark! So dark!" y/n cheered as she pranced ahead, hands in the air, "But that won't stop me! Unu dada!"
"Y/n! Don't run off!" Paimon protested as her and Aether hurried after the girl.
It took a while but they found her in a large room, peering curiously as someone crouching in front of a anemo statue that was hanging upside down.
"What is this...?" Aether murmured.
"Hey!" y/n called then pointed to the kneeling person, "I think they're dead."
"How are you so calm about this?" Paimon demanded and y/n shrugged.
"Death and tragedy is nothing new to me." she replied, "I've watched my people suffer for who knows how long."
"Your what?" Aether inquired.
Y/n blinked, "My people. My family. Hilichurls."
Paimon and Aether were giving y/n wary looks while she stared back in confusion, trying to figure out why they were looking at her like that.
Aether looked like he was about to ask y/n something but was interrupted when the ground began to shake violently.
"What's happening?" Paimon cried, clinging to y/n who immediately bolted.
"Hey! Wait for me!" Aether shouted.
"Hurry up, blondie!" y/n shouted back, no even bothering to slow down.
Y/n skidded around a corner, Paimon stll clinging to her for dear life as she dodged the bubbles floating on down the slope towards them.
Aether was still lagging behind so y/n turned back around to grab him by the hand and run with him.
The trio made their way up the stairs and were rushing towards the exit when y/n abruptly stopped.
Her sudden halt nearly sent Paimon flying while Aether simply collided with the girl.
Fortunately and unfortunately, y/n didn't budge while Aether felt like he hit a wall.
"Y-Y/n... Aether, is that...!?" Paimon cried.
"It's a McLanky Legs!" y/n gasped while Aether also exclaimed, "An Abyss Herald!"
They gave each other confused looks but before they could even think to say anything, the abyss herald spoke.
"You cannot spy on the secrets of the abyss...!" the thing hissed, "You have come here... you have seen our secerets. For this, you must pay the-"
"SHUT UP!"
The Abyss Herald was cut off when y/n threw her axe at it, nailing it in the middle of the face.
It stumbled and y/n lunged at it, ready to beat the crap out of it but recieved a fist to the stomach instead.
She blinked, the force surprising her.
She was in a state of shock, one that pretty much prevented her from feeling the pain that came with the punch. And the pain that came with hitting a crumbling pillar and having the rubble drop on her Shirakumo style-
(I'm sorry-)
And look at that.
She got hit on the head. :)
(Short and crappy chappy, I'm sorry but I'm not feeling too happy)
(Ehe, I rhymed)
(Anywho... my plan involves completing y/n's schedule thingy ma bob, simp time and then ending this book. It's not ending for good, if that makes any sense, I'm just continuing it in another book which won't start for a bit...)
(This is just me trying to put some more time into my other genshin fic and to piece together a request I got.)
(The request? It's a Diluc x reader ^^)
(So... this book has about one or two parts *plus the extra stuff* left before I complete it and start on the request.)
