I keep thinking I'm finished with this series, but then you all want the next part. So here you go.

Your phone was ringing again.

Which sucked because you were currently sleeping. Or trying to.

John wasn't home right now.

He had decided to stay at a trusted friend's place for tonight.

"I just… I can't… I don't know if…"

"You don't need to explain. Do what you think will help you cope. Just make sure it's healthy. I love you."

"… I'll be going now."

You rolled over and glared at your still-ringing phone.

After a silent deliberation, you were checking the caller ID and answering.

"Hello?"

"(Y/N), hi," Dick replied sheepishly, "Sorry for waking you."

"No no, I've been up for a while," You said hastily, "John's at a sleepover so…"

"You're worried?", Dick asked with a familiar air.

You sighed heavily and fell back on the bed.

It was silent for a bit and you could hear sounds that you often associated with nighttime.

Quieter traffic. Quieter people. Quieter everything.

Nights with Dick had been quieter.

Quieter laughs. Quieter songs. Quieter kisses.

It hurt to think you would never have that back.

You wanted Dick to be here. You wanted John to be here.

You wanted them both to be here and happy.

"I miss you…" You sighed out without thinking.

"(Y/N)…" Dick replied softly.

You were sitting up immediately.

'Why did I say that? Why did I say that? Why did I say that? Why did I–"

"Ignore what I said," You said hastily, "Just–"

"I'm at your front door," Dick interrupted, "That's… why I was calling in the first place."

You hung up and let out a muffled scream into your pillow.

'Why did I say that?'

The house was quiet.

So quiet.

It felt unnatural.

Dick sighed and said, "I broke things off with Kori."

You froze in your seat.

'What?'

"W- when?!", You asked.

"During the week I was off-world," Dick replied solemnly.

You knew Kori.

You knew how nice she was.

You knew how in love she was with…

Wow.

This did not feel as nice as it should.

"So, you broke her heart? Just like that?", You asked with a tilted head, "Just like you broke mine?"
