"And last but not least, the corridor I think you will find most interesting, Malak" Richard Hart, former Hogwarts student and Gryffindor house member explained to Malak and Charlie, now nearing the end of their extensive visit to St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries. "The Creature Induced Injuries corridor."
Malak just stared at the Healer, gaping in amusement. Combining her vocation for healing and her love for magical creatures sounded like a great option for her —almost too good to be true, and it was definitely the best way to wrap up the tour of the hospital.
"Ah! Healer Smethwyck, good morning!" Richie saluted a rather peculiar man that walked distractedly towards them.
"Healer Hart, good morning to you too!" the man reciprocated, and looking to Charlie and Malak he continued "and who are these? Are they with the werewolf girl?"
'Werewolf' was the cue Malak needed to snap out of her trance. "There is a werewolf girl?"
"No need to be apprehensive, dear" the said Healer Smethwyck started "werewolves are not dangerous when there is no—"
"Of course they aren't, and neither are they when it is full moon, if properly treated" Malak smiled.
"Who are you again?" the man asked, tilting his head to the side.
"Malak Aboul Gheit."
"Oh... Aboul Gheit..." he pensively spoke, eying her from head to toe. "I am Hippocrates Smethwyck, Healer-in-Charge of the 'Dangerous' Dai Llewellyn Ward of Serious Bites."
"Oh, Dai Llewellyn as in the Quidditch player?" Charlie questioned, the name catching his attention.
But Malak's mind was somewhere else.
Serious Bites.... Perhaps he would know about scorpion bites...
The Egyptian witch made a quick mental note to ask the man eventually.
"... the man died eaten by a Chimaera in Mykonos. Quite a tragic ending" the healer explained to the bemused dragon tamer.
"So Hippocrates — Malak is visiting the hospital today because she wants to train to be a healer after graduating Hogwarts" Richie spoke, "and I think this corridor is perfect for her."
"You must like magical creatures then" the man assumed.
Malak only nodded. Her mind still absorbed with all possible conjectures and theories that had been dancing around her mind since that fateful October afternoon. She was spiraling, and she knew it. She had to regain control of herself and push the thoughts of the scorpion bite to the side, or else it would consume her and severely harm her chances of defining a career path for herself.
