Chapter 2

Brooklynn's POV

I groaned as I heard my alarm go off. I stretched, rubbed my eyes, and yawned. I went to my closet and picked out an outfit. I went to the bathroom and took a shower and brushed my teeth.

I walked out of the bathroom after doing my skincare routine and I put my shoes on. I don't have a car unfortunately because I don't have enough money for one. I grabbed my house keys and headed to the door quickly trying to avoid my dad.

Well lets just say I failed. "Where are you going!" He spat. "T-to work sir." He slapped me and I let out a quiet yelp. "Did I say you can go!" He yelled at me, "N-no sir." He scoffed an rolled his eyes. "Just get out." I quickly ran out the door holding my face.

I was trying to hold back my tears. I'm surprised I don't have a big bruise yet, that happens everyday. I sighed as I walked into work saying hello to a few of my coworkers. "Hey Brooklynn." Khloe said.

"Oh hey Khloe, where's Noah?" I asked. "Oh he said he was sick or something I don't know I was half sleep when he told me." I nodded while walking to the back to clock in. Khloe was just staring at me and I started to feel insecure.

"Can you like not stare at me, it's uncomfortable." I turned around to go to the register. "Oh sorry, what happened to your face?" She asked. "My what?" "Your face, its a red mark there." I froze, Khloe doesn't know about my dad, nor my life.

She just knows that I'm a girl who lives a regular life. "Uh I fell." I lied. "Oh ok." She had a skeptical look, but shrugged it off anyway. My phone buzzed in my pocket and I looked at it. it was a text message from billie.

Yeah, I'm at work

It's fine, I was bored anyway
