Briskly taking steps down the hall of the Cursed Palace, Ophi automatically made her way to the East Wing. She didn't need to look up from her prize, nor excuse herself out of the way of servants. The East Wing was her private corridor, and it was rare for Ophi to see any maid. It was forbidden to disturb her - by decree of the Demon King himself - and any offense of that nature was punishable by death.
Ophi took her time with each page, flipping the same one back and forth. She still couldn't believe that it was real... that she was real. She truly was Zodiac Sign! Merely holding the book in her hands filled her with an unbridled sense of purpose, as if the book told her she could reach beyond her home. The thought made her smile widely. The smile faltered when she noticed she was stepping in blood.
Ophi huffed, cursing herself for being so careless as to step into it. "By Erebus..." She muttered, tearing her eyes away from her book to find out where the black blood lead to. She blinked at the maid that lifelessly slumped to her right. Ophi walked up to the corpse and kneeled to meet her fully black eyes. "So you are the source."
Now that she wasn't distracted, Ophi finally noticed that this maid was not the only dead one. Several maids down the hall and more behind her had all been stabbed in the neck, leaving quite a mess in the corridor. Ophi huffed. She had only just gotten back a few Mortal hours ago, and now she had to deal with a potential assassin. "You will pay for wasting my time, assassin," She said louder, rising up to her full height again.
One flick of her wrist and her Sacred Weapon was in her hand. "But before you do, you will clean this mess," She called again, speeding up her pace. The faster she killed this imbecile, the faster she could get back to her book. Assassinations were commonplace for Ophi, having to deal with them since she was around 8 Mortal years old. None were successful, and over the Mortal years, she had hoped her subjects would realize there was simply no way to kill her.
As she approached her door, Ophi pushed yet another maid to the side; her mind and body were ready to attack. Multiple approaching strategies came to mind as she prepared to simply teleport into her room and kill the intruder. However, a voice stopped her. A single, strong, beautiful mental voice. Ophi's smile grew so wide her fangs glistened from the netherlight stones that lit the corridors.
Releasing her staff, she used her now free hand to thrust the door open. A tall man with naturally bronzed skin stood in front of her vanity, inspecting one of Ophi's rings. One eye was squeezed closed as his tongue stuck out. His hair was in a tight man bun, containing his even tighter curls.
"You are here," Ophi spoke breathlessly.
"And so are you," His response was natural as he finally looked at her, opening both of his eyes to look at her. One shone a brilliant purple, and the other was a gleaming brown. His smile grew to match hers.
Ophi wasted no time closing her distance with him, using her telekinesis to close and lock her door. In that same move, she fell into his arms, her robotic laugh ringing in her room. The man simply laughed with her.
Like a magnet, they pulled together, connecting with their lips. Like always, the man's lips were soft and plump, and tasted of some Mortal fruit Ophi couldn't think of.
He overtook her quite easily since Ophi had no intentions of fighting against him. Her arms snaked around his neck and his hands firmly held her waist, pulling each other impossibly closer.
Ophi pouted when he pulled away. "Why cease?" She asked him, not letting him go. "I do very much enjoy you kissing me."
The man chuckled again. "I know, Ophi," He said with a smile "But I have to breathe. Don't worry, I'll kiss you again, I know how much you like it~"
