Night fell silently, placidly. Faster than we'd anticipated. It brought peace to the land, still, the little bay is troubled. Raging waves roll untamed. One after the other.

They are threatening. Threatening to push you over, to pull you underwater and draw you into the open wide sea.

I can't remember when it was that you went to stand there, feet in the water, gaze on the horizon. 

When did I start watching you silently?

When did I start weeping?

I know. 

I know that it is over now. We are over now. We were when dusk started filling the sky and long before that. We were over long ago.

Our dwindling time ran through my fingers like the fine sand I'm sitting on.

Too quick.
