"maybe in another world, another life, we were meant for a happy ending, but not here, not this time"
in which nishimura ayame is struggling with her mental health and home life and yang jungwon tries to help her but nothing could ever go right for...
while everyone was in class, talking to their friends and on their phones; ayame sat in her seat, finishing her homework that was due in her next class.
to say ayame didn't talk to anyone wasn't completely a lie. she talked to a few people but none of them who she would considered 'friend'. to be honest, the closest friend she's had ever since she moved to that high school was riki and he's her brother. the only other person she trusted was the librarian. other than that, she didn't really have any other friends.
the door to the classroom slid open, signaling the teacher was there. everyone quickly went to their respective seats and put their phones away.
the class president stood up, "good morning" he spoke. the teacher nodded, gesturing that the student could sit down. after he sat down, the teacher began talking
"good morning class. before we start today's lesson, we have a new student joining us today"
as soon as they heard 'new student', everyone became interested because it's rare they have a new student and who wouldn't be interested in a new student?
ayame wasn't per-say not interested she just didn't see the need to be so excited over another student.
"come in!" the teacher exclaimed before the door opened and there entered the new student.
he stood beside the teacher when the teacher told him to introduce himself. he bowed at the class before smiling causing the class to go in awe from his smile, "hello. my name is yang jungwon and i hope we can become good friends this year!"
"make sure to be nice to him" the teacher instructed the class and everyone nodded, "you may sit behind huang seolhyun. seolhyun please raise your hand"
the girl raised her hand and jungwon bowed at the teacher before walking over to his seat, putting his bag down and sitting down.
"so for today's lesson.."
from there ayame tuned out the teacher, not paying attention in class. the lesson they were learning in math wasn't hard so ayame wasn't worried about missing it. she wasn't the brightest student but she also wasn't a dumb kid.
ayame stared at her paper, writing down her schedule for that week, "..working 6 days.." she muttered to herself, circling multiple times the time she has her shift at.
working 6 days meant 6 days of hell for her. she absolutely hated her job and was only there for the money she needed to support her brother and her father.
while her father did work 2 jobs, it was simply enough money to just pay the rent of the apartment and a few other bills along with groceries. other than that, ayame paid for a lot of things with her job.
"ayame" the teacher called out. she snapped out of her daze and looked up at the teacher and now all eyes were on her, "please come up and answer this problem"
ayame nodded as she got out of her seat and walked up to the front of the classroom to the chalkboard, staring at the math problem in front of her
'4x² - y²= 9. find dy/dx'
"if 4x to the power of 2 minus y to the power of 2 equals nine then find dy over dx" she spoke to herself and stared at the problems for a few seconds
"she's so slow.." some girl muttered.
jungwon heard this and tilted his head, staring at the girl who was in the front of the classroom.
'it is a decently hard calculus question..' jungwon thought, wondering why people were rushing her. he thought that maybe math just wasn't her thing
"can she hurry?" someone else whispered
"ayame if you do not-"
the teacher stopped talking when she saw ayame showing her work on the board quickly in just a few seconds before she circled her answer. she placed the chalk back down and looked at her teacher, "the answer is 4x over y"
ayame walked back to her seat again with no facial expression and sat back down.
"creepy.." the person behind her whispered but ayame didn't make a fuss about it and blocked out all sounds again.
as the teacher called up another student to do a problem, jungwon looked over at ayame who was writing in her notebook again.
'ayame..'
