4.7 | the heartbreaking news

jungwon walked into school the next day with his airpods in, not really expecting much from a normal school day.

as soon as he stepped into the hallway, he could feel the gloomy atmosphere. he didn't question it though because he just assumed, its school so who isn't moody when coming to school

jungwon walked to his class and slid open the door and he could hear the tears of students from his airpods. he took out one of his airpods and looked at the students and they all turned to look at him.

he walked over to his seat slowly and put his bag down, confused.

"uhm..is something wrong?" he asked, mainly to the whole class

"we're so sorry jungwon" a girl spoke, her throat choking on tears

"sorry? sorry for what?" he was completely lost

"y-you haven't heard?" the girl stammered and he just shook his head. the girl turned to look at her friend, shock that he didn't know.

just as the girl was about to explain, another girl ran into the classroom

hyunjin.

"jungwon!" the girl exclaimed and before he could process anything, she hugged him tightly, "i'm so sorry"

no one was telling jungwon was happening and he was lost.

jungwon pulled away from his girlfriend and looked at her, "what happened? i'm lost"

"you didn't hear?" she was in shock as well.

"can someone tell me?!" jungwon was getting frustrated that no one was telling him

"it's ayame.." hyunjin began. jungwon didn't know what she was going to say but what she said immediately broke his heart, "ayame attempted suicide last night. she's in the hospital right now"

"w-what?" he stammered out of pure shock, "y-you're lying.." he bitterly chuckled, not believing the girl, "please tell me you're lying.."

no one responded and now jungwon knew it wasn't just some cruel joke that everyone was in on.

jungwon wasted no time in pushing past hyunjin and running out of the classroom

"yah yang jungwon!" hyunjin shouted, running after him and quickly catching up with him, "where are you going?" she gripped onto his wrist, stopping him in his tracks

"the hospital! where else?!" he yelled at her, feeling a bunch of emotions he couldn't describe

"jungwon! the hospital is an hour away"

"so?!"

the girl rolled her eyes before dragging him now, the two now running, "i'm taking you. let's go"

jungwon rushed inside the hospital and ran to the receptionist, "what room is in nishimura ayame in? please tell me"

"she's currently in surgery after her incident. but her brother is waiting outside the surgery room. it's down that hall"

jungwon bowed quickly before running over to the hall where he saw riki sitting down, bouncing his legs up and down again out of nervousness.

"ri-i mean..niki!" jungwon shouted

riki looked up and saw jungwon along with hyunjin following behind him.

riki's eyes were red and he was sobbing. riki stood up as jungwon walked over to him and hugged him tightly

"a-ayame.." riki choked out, his tears falling onto jungwon's shirt
