"ayame" a voice called out to the girl who was sitting at her seat, picking at her nails and completely zoned out, "yah ayame" the boy poked her and she flinched, moving away

she looked up, seeing jungwon.

but just seeing the boy hurt her heart. it wasn't his fault.

it was her fault for gathering such feelings

"oh..hey" ayame responded, looking away

"i noticed your hand was bandaged up...did something happen?" jungwon asked a little worriedly, touching her bandaged hand softly

she quickly took her hand away from him and just shook her head, "i'm okay...i just broke a glass at work and cut myself"

"you still work there?" he questioned, "ayame you should quit there. they don't treat you well"

"i know but i need the money..so i'll just handle it" ayame responded

"you can find a better job you know..i can help you if you want" jungwon offered

ayame was also a stubborn girl who wanted no help but from herself, "no it's okay. i can deal with it"

"ayame can you stop being stubborn?" jungwon sighed, "i know you don't like help and i don't want to fight with you again but i'm getting really angry at how selfless you are. i know you need to help your brother but you to think of yourself also. does riki even know about how they treat you?"

ayame stood up and stared at the boy, "then stop being angry. no one asked you to be friends with me"

"ayame. you know well i don't know mean it like that" jungwon didn't bother to fight with her at the moment

"whatever" ayame was going to walk past him but stopped when jungwon placed his hand on her shoulder. she stopped, looking at the boy as he looked at her

"i hope you know that you can lean on me. i won't judge you and i won't fight you. come to me whenever you're ready and i'll be there for you" jungwon patted her shoulder before walking out of the class

ayame so badly wanted to hate the boy

but how could she?

he just cared for her.

ayame sat the bleachers, once again, alone.

her being alone was starting to get to her and she realized she didn't like being alone. she liked having a friend by her side.

she liked jungwon by her side even if he didn't like her the way she liked him. she rather have him by her side as a friend than just as a stranger

ayame made up her mind and finally stood up, walking down the bleachers. she entered the building hall again so she can go into the cafeteria.

she stood outside the door, taking in a breath before opening the doors and scanning the room for a certain boy.

finding the boy with his friends, she walked up to him and tapped him on the shoulder. jungwon turned around and looked up at the girl, "can we talk?"

jungwon nodded and stood up, excusing himself from his friends.

the two then walked out of the cafeteria and into the hallway.

there were no students so ayame stopped in her tracks and so did jungwon

"want to talk to me about something?" jungwon curiously asked, "or are u breaking our friendship?" he joked around and then ayame turned around, a serious face, "w-wait, i was just kiddi-"

"i want to tell you things" she started, "i want to trust you and i know i can. i think i can finally tell you my problems"

"r-really?!" she nodded, letting out a breath

"i will admit that after i yelled out my..home problem..to you, it did feel nice to have it off my chest. if there's someone i want to share my problems with, it's you"

jungwon smiled, bringing the girl in for a hug, "thank you for trusting me ayame"

the girl was happy and hugged him back. even if the girl was sad that he didn't return her feelings, she was glad that she could be friends with him even if it hurt her

but he didn't need to know that.

as long as he was happy then ayame would be happy.

was she really?

was she really?
