"She wasn't exactly sure when it happened. Or even when it started. All she knew for sure was that right here and now, she was falling hard and she could only pray that he was feeling the same way."

Deanna's hope in this place brought out a series of unwanted feelings in Aliya's heart. This was going to be the first step into getting back to normal, the way life was, before the dead started walking. Seeing the hopeful and excited glint in Deanna's eyes made her uncomfortable, making her purse her lips to stop myself from speaking up.

Apparently, Aliya's apprehension was mirrored by Rick as he turned his head away to look outside the window with disbelief painted across his face. Deanna's head tilted towards Rick as she playfully challenged him, "What? Does that sound like pie in the sky?" she asked. Rick looked back at her and stared, gouging her expression.

Aliya shifted to the side when Deanna's attention turned towards her as they all waited for her answer. She cleared her throat and licked her lips before shaking her head, "No." she answered shortly. It wasn't impossible but it was surely gonna take a whole lot of sacrifices in order to do so. After a moment, Deanna's attention shifted to Rick, making Aliya sigh in relief.

"Can we talk security?"

They wasted no more time and made their way towards the walls of Alexandria. The steel wall was the only thing separating the people of Alexandria and the monsters outside. It stood tall and mighty but even the tallest building in the world was scaled by a motivated man. Aliya could hear their conversation but her attention was elsewhere.

She thought back at the way Aiden looked at her. More like stared at her, observed her. It didn't take a genius to know that it was trouble. Her jaw clenched at the stream of disturbing thoughts that flowed in her head. This was gonna be messy but if she played it smart, she could use him to their advantage. "There are no lookouts in the clock tower." Deanna confessed.

Aliya's ears pinged at the information and her head whipped towards Deanna quickly. She stared at Deanna incredulously, "What do you mean there's no lookout?" Aliya's tone was accusing. They told them that they should trust that Alexandria was safe and hearing Deanna confess that there was no lookout felt like bitter betrayal to Aliya. Her temper flared at the carelessness and irresponsibleness Deanna was displaying. Rick put up his hand and signalled for Aliya to calm down, reading the look of anger in Aliya's face.

Deanna looked between Aliya and Rick, wincing at the anger in their eyes at her revelation. She shook her head, "There hasn't been a need." she tried to calm them down. Aliya gritted her teeth in frustration and combed her hair harshly, "You waiting for one?" she seethed glaring at Deanna. Rick subtly stepped in between them, trying to get Aliya to back off and take a breather. He could understand Aliya's anger as his was flaring up as well. But they need to remember that they were newcomers here.

Rick noticed the glint of admiration in Deanna's eyes as she stared at Aliya. She was amused by the way Aliya doesn't hesitate to call her out and it just solidified her role as her enforcer. Rick peaked at Aliya over his shoulder and nodded to himself. Aliya was one of their source of strength and support. He wasn't surprised to see that Deanna saw that as well.
