Meanwhile...
Hye-Rin's POV
"So you were aware of this all along?" I asked Chang-Wan, crossing my arms and narrowing my gaze at him.
"Yes, and I was expecting you'd change after that." To be honest, I was astonished by what he said while giving me an ugly grin.
"You truly are incredible." I scoffed, my mouth gape in amazement.
"You should appreciate the detective; without her assistance, you would be in prison right now. Bestfriend, I'm delighted you realised the consequences of your conduct." He remarked, clicking his tongue, that he was done with me and hoped I would change.
"I realised what I was doing, Chang-Wan ah." I grimaced and offered him a tight smile, and he was right; without her, my life would be radically over
I should go see the detective and thank her for saving my life. By the way, I was kidding about taking her down. Maybe I should repay the favour, and as for Soo-Ah, I really need to work on my connection with her. She had to go through all of that because of me, and I'm such a bad mother! I need to reconcile with her right immediately...
While thinking about that, Soo-Ah came in just in time...
"Ahn Soo-Ah, you're here-
"Are you insane, Eomma?" She shouted at me, which made my eyes widen because she was yelling for no apparent reason.
"Crazy? What are you on about?" I asked her, my eyebrows twitching, since I don't get her.
"What did Soo-Young ever do to you? She saved your life, and this is your way of saying thank you? How ungrateful!" She questioned me, her nostrils flaring, and she appeared enraged.
Did she just call me ungrateful for no apparent reason?...
"Ungrateful? Ya Ahn Soo-Ah, watch what you say!" I raised my voice because I hated it when people called me ungrateful, even though I'd never done anything wrong.
"I won't! Why do you have to separate her from her loved ones?" Her voice cracked at the end as her eyes welled up with tears as she questioned me.
"Dear ones?" I raised an eyebrow, not understanding what she was trying to say.
"Why did you pay people to assassinate Ji-Hoon?" She took a big breath and proceeded to give me lazing stares.
"I did not—
"She just has Ji-Hoon and no one else! How would you feel if someone took away your loved ones?" She cut me off by yelling at me before I could finish, her eyes raged with rage.
"Ya, I swear it wasn't me-
"Do you also know what happened to her parents, particularly her grandmother?" She questioned me as she wept, brushing her tears away, and honestly, why wouldn't she let me continue? I promise it wasn't my fault.
I didn't want to say anything since she will not listen to anything I say. Thus, she is pregnant, and her emotions might force her to be stubborn at times, as I was back then...
"Her father and grandparents were murdered by Mr Lee. She is unaware of this, as well as the fact that her mother and twin sister are still alive. Imagine if she discovers you're her biological mother." She scoffingly compressed her lips and glanced at me, and I could tell she was angry on the inside.
"What exactly do you mean?" I was both astonished and perplexed.
"Soo-Young is your long-lost daughter, and she is my twin sister." She admitted as she handed me a brown envelope, which I opened to read.
