Chapter 94 - Telling Cedric

You move backward along with the crowd as the Death Eaters charge with force, you know. You know you need to talk to Draco and Cedric. You've decided and can't help but feel a bit of guilt at the same time. You squeeze through the crowd, turning left and right, looking for Cedric. A Death Eater comes face to face with you with a shìt eating grin on their face. He walks towards you threateningly. "Expelliarmus!" you yell and disarm them, causing them to fly backwards without their wand. From a safe distance you say the spell "Confundo" that ought to save everyone some time and effort.

You stample across Luna who seems to weigh down by two attackers. You join in to help her by using the immobulus charm, causing the attacker to not be able to move. "Thank you, y/n" Luna clears her throat as she looks around her surroundings. You freeze for a moment just paying attention to everything. You thought it was over. How stupid of you to be wrong. It's not over until Harry or Voldemort die. "Y/n, I believe - your - brother is - injured," Luna forces out with a grunt of exhaustion.

You scan to find Lewis on the floor. "Look out!" he shouts from the ground. At once you land on the floor too with a loud thud. Hurting your elbows as they somewhat break your fall. You get on your knees to face your brother. "I saved you by the way" he points out as he helps himself up. "And a great excuse for pushing you on the floor," he winks at you.

You roll your eyes "Wink at me again-" but you're cut off as a Hufflepuff walks past you. You quickly trundle towards him, placing your hand on his arm. He looks back at you and follows you when you signal to him to come with you.

"Can we please talk?" you ask, letting out a little cough from all the sediment and explosions.

"Yeah, if we don't end up dying halfway," he says sarcastically as he looks over you.

You both find a space to talk. You swallow and clench your hand into a fist by your side.

"Yeah y/n/n?" Cedric asks running his hand through his hair.

"You. It's always been you, Cedric. I've always loved you. "

"I look at you, and I fall in love all over again." he whispered as he drew closer to you to embrace you in a soft hug. That's what was engraved in the necklace that he gave you. You closed your eyes, taking a deep breath before pulling away.

"Me too Ced," you reply. "You're my everything, you've always been there for me no matter what. And - I'm - sorry that I-I didn't-"

"- hey, hey it's okay now," Cedric reassures you.

You still feel guilty, you then let tears fill up in your eyes and blur your vision. "No but I have been terrible a-and selfish"

Cedric then brushes away the tears that roll down your cheek "Look at me" he says softly "It' hurt, no doubt it did" He then pulls you into another hug but doesn't let go of you. "But all is forgiven and forgotten, my love. But please don't cry cause I don't like that"

You then look up at him and notice how much love and kindness shines in his eyes. You then connect your lips with his for a brief kiss. "I can't wait to just relax for a while"

Cedric nods his head in agreement. "I know I'm exhausted"

You couldn't wait to leave and get all this over with.

"What do we do now?" You asked only to earn a shrug from Cedric.

After a couple of minutes, you found Lewis, Caleb, and Goldstein. You can Caleb sat at the remains of what is the stairs while Goldstein stands behind us. Lewis staring out into the sky, leaning on a half broken pillar with his arms crossed.

"I won the bet in your face," Caleb broke the silence after a second.

Goldstein rolled his eyes "What ever"

"What bet?" asked your brother in confusion.

In almost unison, the three of you spoke out, "Nothing"

"Mhm, cause that's not suspicious at all," Lewis scoffs playfully.

You stared at the clouds that were passing by and viewing the destruction caused.

"Because of all of this, do we have to come back for another year to complete our education" Caleb points out with a yawn.

"Perhaps, it'd be nice but I don't know," you mutter in thought. It'd be great to stay at Hogwarts one last time. But it would be even better if you could get on with your life.

"No way I'm staying," Lewis pointed out.

You and your brother sit on the Hogwarts Express going back home. It's just the both of you in the compartment, sitting opposite each other. "So, um," Lewis mutters, rubbing his palms together in deep thought.

Noticing that something's off, you place a bookmark in your book and close it. "Yes, tell me," you say, looking outside the window. Water shimmers as the sun touches it.

"Um, well, you know when the Battle of Hogwarts happened?" Lewis says nervously "Well, I uh saw dad. He said little, got chased off before I could say anything important." he informs evading all eye contact.

"Wh-when?" you ask in disbelief.

"You were talking to Malfoy, I think. I don't know." he shakes his head. "I don't know if h-he's alive or-" he stops for a moment trying to breathe. You just wait for him. "I . . . remember something mom told us something before s-she died." His lips and fingers tremble. "She told us not to trust him," he says, shocked, "and we didn't listen. We didn't-"

You look down at the floor "I know, but-"

"We didn't listen to her! Look where that got us!"

'"Lewis, I know. The feeling will not go away for a long time, but don't you think we'd be in the same place no matter what." After a minute you mutter "I do to wonder if Dad's . . . still with us. We're going to go home and find out okay?" you promise him "and you're going to get to meet Daphne again"

"Yeah, I know"
