ALICE STOOD IN FRONT OF HER MIRROR, A SIGH LEAVING HER LIPS. She rolled the sleeves of both arms, keeping it to her elbows. That felt a lot better. Formal wasn't her thing so at least this way, even with the loose-fitting clothes, the sleeves rolled up felt more like herself.
Alice would've gone the extra mile with makeup but she never did learn. Jean wasn't exactly a loving mother growing up so she never taught Alice. Alice spent more money on drugs than she did makeup and, with everything running through her system, her hands were too shaky to do it herself. By the time she was clean, she was past the age where it was acceptable for makeup to look shitty. If she did ever need to dress up for anything, Stella was the one who normally did it for her.
Alice was hoping it wouldn't bother Stella that she didn't have any on tonight.
She thought that it should be enough that she was even going to this stupid dance in the first place. Alice turned away from her mirror when her door slammed open, meeting Stella's eyes. "Well, aren't you a sight for sore eyes?" Stella leaned against Alice's door, taking in her clothes.
"Fuck off," Alice chuckled, throwing a pillow in Stella's direction. "You look good," she complimented. Stella really did. She was wearing a lace dress that cut off at her knees, her hair in a loose bun with nude coloured eye shadow and red lipstick. She really did look pretty. "C'mon, let's get this night over with."
