chapter twenty six
{ unedited }
IT HAD BEEN A WEEK SINCE JOHNNY'S INCIDENT. He had been discharged after seeing there was nothing more wrong than his arm injury and concussion. The doctors ruled his gap in memory as selective amnesia and left it at that, not bothering to ask any more questions.
Alice and Stella had tried seeing him but all Johnny would do was sleep so they were going to wait until he was feeling a little better with his concussion gone before anything else. Luckily, though, he had fired his manager and quit the modelling agency he was signed to. He told his friends that he would find a better one when he was feeling up to it and one that won't force him to meet unrealistic body expectations. He said he didn't want to change himself and his body for a job and cause himself to meet an unhealthy weight for it.
Alice had been staying with Maeve in that time. She had found out she was quite good with kids, specifically Elsie. It seemed like the little girl was attached to Alice, surprising the Milburn. She always thought she would be horrible with children considering the relationship she had with her own mother but even Erin had complimented her on her motherly instincts.
Alice grunted when feeling a body collide in her back from her seat on the floor, Elsie's laughter filling her ears as the young girl's small arms wrapped around her shoulders. Alice threw the book she was reading onto the table and turned to face the young girl. "C'mere," Alice laughed as she grabbed onto the girl, pulling her into her lap and tickling her stomach.
