We were heading down to the chemo infusion room. for my first round of treatment, l must admit l'm tad nervous because l've never been in this situation before. Stef's pushing me in the wheelchair, after our meeting with my new dietitian Maggie Day. She was very straightforward and answered all of our questions. Dad had to go back home to let Cocoa out, l'm still processing everything we've been told by both Doctors. Cameron explained how chemotherapy works, one a week for several days. The cycles are most often giving 2 to 4 weeks long
So I have to a round of 4 to 8 cycles of treatment, Cameron told us about the possible side effects. Such as a burning sensation, numbness or shooting pain, nausea, vomiting
I'll be in a private room. Stef is able to be in there with me, Cameron informed us that my oncologist recommended l have a higher dose of chemo. So it can start attacking the cancer cells in my body, Stef pushed me in the room. Where l see Cameron has everything set up, this is actually happening. I said to myself, at least l have a view of the outside. Stef helps me out of the wheelchair, and into a regular chair. Cameron how long does Lena have to sit here, Stef asks

Lena l need to make a fist so I find a vein. Lena did as she requested
Stef's sitting across from me watching what Cameron's doing, Cameron inserts the long needle into my IV intravenous that's in my hand
It only stung for a few seconds
But now l feel a burning sensation
l feel my eyes beginning to well up
This crap hurt like crazy. Stef mouths l
Love you. Stef rushes over to me and squats down in front of me, takes my hand in hers. Baby can you look at me
Please, she said to me. Stefanie l can't do this it's hard, Lena replied. Honey you just started. I can't imagine what your going through, but l promise you
I'll be here every step of the way Stef tells me in a calm settle tone. Cameron's in the corner washing her hands in the sink, Lena if there's anything you need press the button on the side of your chair. I will be back to check up on you, in twenty minutes. Cameron Stated, l just nodded my head. Stef kissed me on the lips, and sat down beside me holding my hand. She gets up and wheels the cart over towards me
Stef turns on the laptop so we can watch a movie on Netflix, we wait as the computer loads up. She holds my hand up and plant a kiss on it, l smile
A little. Stef always knows how to put a smile on my face in times like theses
