After receiving my treatment
I was rolled back down to my room
I wasn't feeling up to any visitors
My oncologist came in to formally introduce herself. As Dr. Melanie Watts, she's an older African American woman, she explained everything to me in full detail
About my chemotherapy. They put me on a high intensive dose to kill the cancer cells, l litterly physically drained. I barely had an appetite
That's how bad l felt, when I enter my room. Stef got up from the chair and carried me over to the bed, as soon as my head hit the pillow. I was down for the count, l didn't even hear the chemo nurse tell Stef l was sick after my chemo. She told her to make sure l drank plenty of fluids so I wouldn't get dehydrated, l didn't take notice of the tray of lunch sitting on the table
I knew this was gonna be a long battle
While Lena was asleep. I stepped out of the room briefly, to call trader Joe's to place an order. For lunch since l had only ate breakfast, l knew Lena won't eat any of the hospital food
So I got her a large chicken broth with crackers. For myself l got turkey sandwich with lettuce tomatoes, and medium size vegetable soup. I informed one of the nurses, l was expecting a delivery. One of the woman said she would come in and get me, when the delivery guy arrives
I went back into the room and sit by Lena's bed. I watched her sleep
I turned on my laptop to watch a movie, tomorrow Saturday. I might go to spend the day with the kids, l decided to pay some bills since
I'm on line. I'm sure if Lena's disability claim has been approved yet, the caseworker said the process could take up to six months or longer
I start with the smaller utilities first
The nurse came in and said my food was here. I got up from my seat to go pay for our meal, after the guy gave me the total. I handed him the money and he gives me a the paper bag, then he went on his way, then I went back into the room. Lena was still sleeping
I take out the cup of soup and my sandwich, l ate the turkey sandwich first. They sure put a bunch of meat on here,
