August 3rd, 2005 Yayoi

Aggressively pulling her grandmother's car's door open Yayoi threw herself into the back seat. She pulled a small blanket off a bulk that sat in the back seat to reveal an emergency first aid kit. Reaching into the space between the back seat and the driver seat, she threw open her messenger bag before dumping out any books and random nick nacks from within it, replacing the miscellaneous contents with the kit before she began to shuffle her way out of the car. She failed to notice as her mother had come up behind her having grown concerned when she noticed her daughter's extended disappearance.

"Yayoi?"

"Eak!"

BAM

Jumping at her sudden appearance, Yayoi inadvertently slammed her head against the frame of the car door as she was exiting the back seat. "Ahh!!!" Yayoi began to curse and hiss painfully under her breath, as she held her throbbing head. "Maldita—"

Gasping in shock at the loud slam of her daughter hitting her head, Reina moved to check on her as she quickly moved to reach for her child. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine!" Yayoi hissed, brushing her mother's hand away from her head. "It's just a bump, I'm good. I'm good... I need to go!"

"Go?" Eyes wide Reina tried following after her daughter, "Go where?" She asked, reaching out to her daughter. "Yayoi? Where are you going... and what's with those supplies?" She continued questioning as her daughter only ignored her. "Yayoi.... Yayoi!" Yayoi continued to ignore her. Growling Reina quickly grabbed her daughter forcibly turning her around to face her. "Shimizu Yayoi, you tell me what's going on this instant!" Reina tried to sternly order only to waver as her daughter's tense glare made her hesitate. "Please... Something's obviously not right... Maybe I can help."

Shrugging her mother's handoff, Yayoi scoffed at the women's worlds curling into herself a bit. "I'm fine, I just have to get to the Musashi festival now." She said, clutching her bag tight.

Frowning at her daughter, Reina muttered to herself. "The Musashi festival...." Her eyes became wide, then. "That's a twenty-minute ride from here!" Reina exclaimed, "And you plan to go on foot."

"Well, I don't really have a choice!" Yayoi angrily snapped, "My friend is about to get jumped by some no-good gangsters, and I... I can't just stay here knowing someone I know could get seriously hurt." She glared as Reina's expression shifted to become more serious.

"Gangsters...? Yai you can't go–"

"Fuck you!" Yayoi snapped, "Who are you to tell me what to do? I'm going. You can't stop me!" She growled, moving to walk around her mother as Reina only shook her head.

"No. I mean you're not going on foot." Reina clarified, causing Yayoi's eyes to go wide as her mother turned and began walking away.

"I– wha?" Yayoi stuttered as Reina turned back to her daughter to frown.

"You won't make it in time on foot. Right now, traffic is more backed up than a virgin on Valentine's day." Reina began to explain as Yayoi gagged at her mother's crude analogy.

"Ugh! Gross! Really Mom?"

"Not only that, but the rain is only going to make it worse." Reina pointed up at the sky.
