December 23rd 1967 was a dark night.
We all sat around the kitchen island while Niklaus was on the phone with Dubcek, we had the plan for New Year all written out right down to every insignificant little detail. Watching Rune etch down everything that we were about to do made everything seem far more real.
We were actually going to go through with this, we were all going to be putting our lives, our parent's reputations- everything on the line for what we believed in.
The New Years Invasion would go as follows:
1. We would arm ourselves entirely and make certain we wore bulletproof clothing as we made our way to the military base to notify the Czechoslovakian army that the plan was about to begin.
2. We would take refuge in the government building where we would meet Alexander Dubcek as well as all of our comrades who'd agreed to take down Novotny. We would wait to give to signal to the army who would break into Novotny's head office and give him a chance to surrender to the coup. If not blood would stain the floors of the presidential office, he would be killed within seconds.
3. If he surrenders he would sign over power of the country to Dubcek and peacefully resign, leaving the power in his hands. If not his body would be taken to his family by soldiers that very night.
