When Time is Undone [37]

The coastal sunrise shone through Linette and Jiyu's room window as Jiyu woke up to find Linette was already up and ready.

''Morning, Sleepy cat!'' Linette joked as she handed Jiyu a coffee. Jiyu rubbed her eyes, chuckling a little and then took a sip of the coffee. She put it down on the bedside table and stretched her arms, legs and tail while also bending backwards, waking her body up. She finally responds, ''Morning... It's way too early...'' Jiyu complained, removing the sheets. Linette smiled and shook her head before saying, ''Well, Lt. Lou wanted us to head down to her office sometime this morning. And I don't know about you but I'd rather not keep her waiting.'', ''Yeah, you have a point...'' Jiyu sighed and got up, putting her shirt back on. Linette then looked at her own clothes and suggested, ''Maybe we should get some more clothes while we're in Khoju Coast.'', Jiyu thought for a moment and then nodded, chugging the rest of her coffee.

The two headed down and saw Jinx, Seiko and Cyrus waiting in the lobby as they also noticed that the receptionist was different from yesterday. Jiyu seemed to recognise this receptionist...

''CONAN?! WHAT IN THE HELL ARE YOU DOING HERE?!'' Jiyu shouted at the blonde cat-boy behind the desk as he looked up and noticed Jiyu. Seiko and Cyrus stood in confusion as Linette asked, ''So you know this guy?'' Jiyu answered, ''Yeah, he's my brother. And he told me that he wasn't taking his new job until next month.'' Jiyu looked at her brother with annoyance as he throws his hands up in the air and says, ''I'm sorry! I was gonna tell you but you were off on another adventure! But if anything, I should be asking what you're doing in Khoju. Did Cloakskyne run out of mysteries?'' Conan joked as Jiyu briefly said, ''It's a long story, I'll catch you up on it later. For now, these are my friends! Linette, Seiko, Cyrus and... Jinx, I guess. We were about to talk to the Lieutenant.'', ''Pfft, Good luck with that. Lou's been overloaded with stress since hearing about Kwamslak's new leader.'' Conan replied as he told Jiyu he'd see her later and got back to work. Seiko leaned into Jiyu and whispered as they walked away from the receptionist's desk, ''I didn't know you had a brother!'', ''Well, I didn't know you had a sister!'' Jiyu replied, holding in a laugh as Seiko giggled and said, ''Touche!''.

They finally arrived in Lou's office once more. This time, Lou was prepared for visitors. ''Enter,'' she said once again as Jinx watched their conversation from the corner of the room.

''So, you wanna protect the Khojumeno Coast's crystal. Well, it's not with me. If anything, that's the first place Itazura would look. Only one of you will be allowed to enter but the one who lives in the largest tent in the middle of Khoju Camp knows where the gem is. I instructed her not to tell me for privacy reasons.'' Lou finishes as Cyrus says, ''I remember seeing it on the way here. Thank you, Lieutenant, for your help!''. ''Of course, but be careful. Her name is Kami Yona and her domain is filled with secrets.'' Lou said before the group nodded, thanked her again and left.

They had arrived outside a large tent in Khoju's main military camp as Jinx says, ''One of you guys can go in, I ain't seeing that rat. Not today, at least.'' as Linette rolled her eyes and turned to Jiyu who said, ''Eh, I don't mind going in. You guys can stay out here and discuss things in the meantime.'' Jiyu took a step, holding open the tent entrance as she turned back and waved. She then headed inside and what she saw was incredible...

The inside of the tent was way bigger than the outside with the night sky and twinkling stars illuminating the interior as many pots and bamboo plants everywhere. In the middle of this was a white, chalky pathway leading to a shrine. Inside the red-painted wooden shrine, was a girl with long white hair and a red streak along with fox ears and tail. She seemed to be meditating while calmly floating off the ground.

Jiyu's ears held themself down as she took a few steps up the path. The girl's ears twitch as she opens her cold, white eyes and says ''Hello there. How may I be of help to you, strange traveller?''.  Jiyu took a few more steps closer as she replied, ''I'm Jiyu, Are you Kami Yona?'' the fox girl answered, ''Yes. But my friends call me Kami.'' She giggles and lets her feet touch the ground as she gets slightly closer to Jiyu. ''Um... So I need to know where the Khoju gem is. Lou sent me, you see...'' Jiyu tried to explain, slightly uncomfortable at how close Kami was. ''Ah, yes. My lovely Lou sent you to get the gem... She told me to keep it a secret from her though~'' she smiles, almost mischievously as she notices the outline of where Jiyu's ears were and backed up, exclaiming, ''Oh, my apologies! I was simply trying to get a better look at you, dear. You see, I'm blind. Everything is quite the blur from far away!'' She tried to joke as Jiyu brushed it off and got straight back to business. ''Look, Miss Yona, I'm sorry about your blindness but I really need to get that gem and I-'' Kami cut her off. ''I know, dear. And I'll tell you... only if you tell me how you plan on defeating Itazura.'' Kami was suddenly serious as she held a note, ready to give to Jiyu after her explanation. ''Well... We haven't thought it through too much but we were hoping, after getting as many gems as we can to keep them safe and then I guess we were going to ask for your help. Specifically, Khoju's military and some other friends... That is if Itazura confronts us directly with violence, of course.'' Jiyu finished as Kami didn't say a word. She just gave Jiyu the paper and went back to her meditation. Before Jiyu left, she told her, ''That note is the address that has the gem. And a slight warning for your goal... Not everything will go according to plan.''. As she said this, Jiyu looked back with furrowed eyebrows as she finally turned back and left the tent.
