She knows.

Fragments came flashing in my mind then, like broken shards of glass putting themselves back together.

Into a mirror.

Reflecting myself.

Reflecting him.

Reflecting us.

Him being there for me.

Him leaving me.

And never coming back.

My breathing was shallow and fast.

He looked like he stopped breathing.

The tears trickled down my cheeks.

He blinked, startled, drawing in a sharp breath as he stared back at me with disbelieving eyes and stiffen posture.

Neither of us made a move, but our eyes dared each other.

They held a challenge.

A warning.

And I actually had the courage to take that one step -

 that leads to another -

and another -

until I was running.

Running to him.

Him, who held me like a brother.

Me, who stayed in his arms like a sister.

This wasn't meant to be.

This isn't meant to be happening.

We weren't meant to find each other again.
