Knock knock.

Knock knock.

"Kristine?"

Knock knock.

"We know you're in there. We hear music."

Knock knock.

"Kristine!"

I heard a notification come in on my phone.

TEXT

Ashley:

Open the door!

I chuckled. "Oops."

The second I turned to leave my walk-in closet, I stumbled over after accidentally bumping my toe against the corner of the closet table. It hurts more than expected so I hissed at the impact.

Resume.

I didn't know how or why, but when I walked past the closet doors, I accidentally knocked my elbow against the handle, "OW!".

Gee, what a morning.

While hopping on one foot and rubbing a hand over my elbow, I made my way towards the room door and unlocked it.

"Good morning!" I was greeted with Teressa's cheerful voice and a warm bear hug.

I squeezed her back and smiled at Ashley over her shoulder. "Good morning."

Regardless of how much she tried not to, Ashley broke into a smile at the sight of my vulnerable body engulfed by Teressa's death hug. Don't get me wrong, Teressa's hugs are the best. They easily make you feel better on bad days. However, damn this girl has a tight grip.

"Morning." Ashley took Teressa's place in my arms.

It really was nothing, but to me it was everything and it felt amazing to be hugged by friends. In fact, that was something that should be appreciated by everyone. A hug from a friend.

"Ok, come on. I'm starving!", Teressa whined and started to pull on my hand.

"Um . . . where are we going?", I asked, idiotically clueless.

"Breakfast. Duh", Ashley chuckled, "Teressa insisted we come and get you in case you slept in, again. Today . . there's pancakes", she continued with a brief dramatic pause in the last sentence.

"Yes! And I want to murder a whole stack of them", Teressa declared and I grinned at how alike she was to Tamara. These two could get away as sisters. They really could.
