It was official. It was pouring buckets upon buckets of rain with wind that tore limbs off trees. If you had known better, you would've taken the poncho your mum suggested.

You were lucky to be leaving school early today, so that you weren't going to be held back by the currents of students making their way to the station as well. You signed out seeing the boy you weren't quite sure you knew, but had the inkling of a name starting with B.

He smiled at you. "Nice weather," he said, swiping his ID.

You nodded, looking warily outside at the grey clouds that spewed water. "Very nice."

He chuckled. "I think we're going to be late for our train." So he'd noticed you before?

"I have no idea when the train comes."

He pulled the early permission slip from the small receipt printer before slipping both his ID and the paper into his pocket and taking out his umbrella from the plastic bag attached to his wrist. "Come on."

He pushed the door open for you and you walked through, thanking him. With a press of a button, your umbrella sprung open to its desired purpose - keeping you nice and dry.

You knew the drill. Walk through the car park, down the hill, up the stairs across the bridge, down the stairs and to your platform, and so you began your journey.

"So what subjects do you do?" he asked, as if truly interested. Most of the time, that was the ice breaker, used to keep the conversation going.

You told him and he looked as though he took it all in.

"You?" you returned.

He shrugged. "Kind of the same. Just the three sciences instead of the humanities."

Wow. Three sciences. Smart. "That's pretty cool. Know what you want to be when you grow up?"

He shrugged. "Scientist of some sort, I guess."

You grinned. "White lab coat and all."

He chuckled and you walked in silence for a moment before the wind hammered down on both of your umbrellas, making the both of you lose control. His was slightly broken with a spoke sticking out. It almost jabbed you but he caught it in time. "Oh gosh, sorry," he said, pulling his umbrella back the other way.

You laughed. "It's fine." The cold was making everything he did laugh. Then yours flipped.

The two of you ended up laughing as you turned to turn your umbrella back. The strong wind did the flip for you.

He chuckled. "This wind is really something."

You laughed. "Yeah."

And so you continued your walk, learning that he wasn't just one of 'those' guys. He was nice and respectful and slightly charismatic. The conversation flowed, carried by the both of you and not just you, as it usually was with the shy or angst filled guys in your year. This was... Nice.

"Hey! We're almost there!" you said, rather enthusiastically as you saw the first set of stairs.

"I can't wait to hop on that train. With the aircon and it's water proof ability."

You laughed. He sounded like a scientist.

You began your descent up the first set of stairs, glad for the barriers on the side that acted as a wind shield. It was much easier to keep the umbrella upright here. You kept walking and he kept talking to you about the holidays you'd just come back from.

"Did you go anywhere?" he asked after telling you his quick story about his drive.

You shook your head. "Just studied."

He chuckled. "Aw." And just as he finished that, you reached the top of the steps. And then a gust of wind came.

Your umbrella flipped as it pulled your arms to the left and landed on him, covering the right side of his upper body. You watched for a split second as he tried to battle the wind and push it off him before you pulled the umbrella away, laughing and apologising.

He laughed along with you before you both saw the train.

"Come on!" he laughed, taking your hand and pulling you across the bridge and down the other stair case.

The two of you sprinted to the door and got in just before it shut, laughing and panting.
