You collected your files.

As the new intern, their files were your files, and their problems were your problems, but your problems weren't theirs. You struggled to balance the three coffees in the cup holder as well. They were hot and you knew that one spill wouldn't just mean a scorching burn on your skin, but a good old firing for work you weren't even paid to do.

"(Y/N)!" you heard Stacy call. She was their other intern and the both of you were in the same boat, only hers was a little older.

"Coming!" you called back earning a 'sh' from one of the men behind a cubicle separator. Coward. Stand up and 'sh'. If he was good to do it, he'd better have had the decency to own up to it.

She noticed the look of a burning passion in your eyes and rolled her, walking over to you and pulling you by the arm, whilst managing to take your coffees and balance them along with all her other things. The woman was a saint. "Thank you so much," you said, reorganising yourself before taking the coffee off her. "Thanks."

She smiled. "Welcome, newbie."

You laughed. "I'm not that new."

"Or are you?" She waggled her eyebrows and you found yourself being hushed as you broke out into laughter.

"Hey. Interns. Hurry up," you heard.

You looked to Stacy. "Ah crap. Run," you said, the both of you laughing again as you ran.

You looked at the stairs to the court. The trail today was simply a divorce. Not that divorces were ever simple if they'd made it to court.

Tim, your so called 'mentor' handed you a sheet of paper. Thankfully they'd drank the coffees in the car on the way here.

"Read it," he said before walking up the stairs. You followed, filling your mind in on all of the details.

"So who are we up against?" you asked.

He grit his teeth. "The Hulk."

You frowned. "The what?"

"The Hulk. Bruce Banner. Specialist lawyer in the area of divorce. The guy he's representing's definitely going to win big time. Mrs. T doesn't even stand a chance."

You nodded. "Right."

He smiled. "And that's why you're going to be representing her. Keep my image squeaky clean."

Excuse you?!

Dick!

*****

You were panicking. What the hell?! All of your years of law school hadn't prepared you for this. And then the Banner walked in, all you could do was stare and he smiled innocently to everyone.

You stood as the judge came in and then sat back down. He greeted her as if she was a long time friend of his. Or maybe she was.

Mrs. Tsang looked worriedly at you and you sighed, trying to comfort her and yourself at the same time.

The judge immediately began official procedure and you found yourself become more and more nervous with each passing second.

Bruce looked at you and smiled. You couldn't bring yourself to smile back so you nodded.

He looked back to the judge and she said something that you didn't quite catch before he stood up.

Recess. Thank god. You were getting killed in there. You walked out of the room, going to stand outside where you could clear your thoughts in the larger, public area.

"Hey," you heard.

You turned around and it was The Hulk himself. Oh crap.

"Hi," you said.

He smiled. "I'm Bruce."

You shook his hand. "(Y/N)."

"So uh, you're a rookie huh?"

You sighed. "That obvious?"

He shrugged. "You're not bad though. Very calm." You wanted to laugh. "I wasn't that good when I first came out of school. School and work are two different things. They don't prepare you enough for this. Sink or swim, you know?" You nodded. In actually fact, you weren't quite listening to what he was saying. You were too busy thinking about the case.

He cleared his throat. "So my client wants to offer yours five million and in turn never hear from her again."

You scoffed. "My client is up for half of it and she deserves it."

"How about eight?"

"Fifty and you have a deal."

He whistled from his teeth. "That's a little high."

"That's half."

He sighed. "Well, I personally think it's unfair what my client is asking for. She founded half the company." He mock gasped, grinning before covering his mouth. "I shouldn't have said that."

You grinned. "Thanks, Bruce."

He smiled. "Anytime. Also, how's lunch sound?"

"Lunch?"

"You know. To discuss this fifty million dollar settlement."

You grinned. "Sounds good."
