I pour Lupin a beer which is often a solution to his problems. This time it wasn't.
He takes a swallow and tells me, "Joe, John has found out that Julie is missing. One of those nerds he works with told him when he called about setting up those interviews with Pixie. I'm not sure I can keep him from headin' out huntin' for her."
"You have to convince him not too. Tell him there are at least two other gangs looking for him. Because somehow, they too have found out about his software. It is just not safe for him to come anywhere near here. Don't let him out of your sight."
"On it," Lupin acknowledge and left without finishing his beer which was very unusual, and without paying for it which was not.
"Do you think Lupin can keep John from going looking for Julie?" Pixie asked.
"No, I don't," I confessed. "We have to find Julie. Do you have any ideas?".
"Actually, I might, but I have to do this by myself." And she left just as abruptly.
