Before we begin this chapter, I find it important to say something first.

As I'm sure you already know, Technoblade has unfortunately lost his battle to cancer and has passed away recently. If you haven't already, go watch the video on the channel in which his father talks about it in more detail and whatnot.

First, I want to offer my condolences to those affected by this loss. Whether you knew him personally or simply consumed his content, his death has an impact on us all. May he rest in peace and all my love goes out to his family. He will not be forgotten.

Second, I want to tell everybody that, since this has happened, his character in this series will also go through a bit of a change, because I do not want to write him as a yandere love interest after this unfortunate event. So, I have made the decision to give him a redemption arc. I think that this could make for interesting interactions and I want to redeem at least one character, and I think Techno is an excellent candidate.

The third thing and last thing I want to say, is to you, dear readers. I understand that this must be hard on you, so if you don't think you'll be able to continue this fic (whether it's only for now or for a longer time) because I will still be writing his character, know that I totally understand and I wish you the best. Take a break if it's needed. If you're staying, then that's fine too. In any case, I am grateful for every single one of you.

Please, dear readers, remember to take care of yourselves. Cancer is a stupid illness and as someone who knows quite some people who lost their lives to it as well, I want to tell you to make sure to send your loved ones some love. Hug your friends and family members, take good care of yourselves and don't take life for granted.

I am grateful for every single one of you. May Alex rest in peace and his legacy live on.

Jack is already standing on the podium to both the people in front of him and the people back at home, who are watching the TV at home. Behind the scenes, you're preparing yourself to get on, tidying your tie and rehearsing some of the stuff you and George talked about. "Do you want to go over it one last time?" Aimsey asks, but you don't respond. Your mind is blank. "Mom?" When she puts her hand on your back, you find your breathing quickening and you look over at her.

"I'm fine," you stutter, grabbing your flask and drinking the medicines inside, in the hopes of easing your headache and nerves.

"Do you want to go over the points one last time, Momsey?" Aimsey asks caringly and you shake your head.

"No, I don't think I should do that right now," you chuckle, scratching your neck and attempting to steady your breathing. When Aimsey notices your distress, she takes your left hand and takes the glove off, scanning the skin.

"The blisters have worsened," she comments, "do you want me to get some salve for you? Is it the burning kind of pain or does it feel numb? Can you move it? I think the orange rash has spread even more than the red rash has, do you want me to-?"

"It's fine, Aimsey," you laugh, interrupting her in the process as you grab her hand with both of yours. "It hurts, but I'm going to be fine. When does it not hurt, after all?" Your smile hurts Aimsey's heart, but she doesn't dare saying this out loud. Instead, she smiles as well, although a lot more melancholic.

"Are you sure?" she asks and you nod, giving her a loving hug. "Are you ready to get up that podium and show them who's boss, too?"

You smirk. "Hell yeah." And with that, you let go of her with pride, moving up to the stage with a good feeling. A genuinely good feeling.
