Alaiya's POV:

We're driving back to the house now.

Roman and I are in the car him and Eldon came in without Eldon though since he had to do some paperwork and other stuff that I didn't understand.

I'm still shocked that it was Ms.Walker. What I'm more surprised about is that she took the picture. I mean, she did slap me after that court hearing so it was obvious she wasn't an amazing person, but I didn't think she'd go this far.

Eldon also told us that Carson had nothing to do with this due to witnesses telling his team that he was still in Ohio. The witnesses, although, that said they had seen Ms.Walker were technically correct. She had been playing a long game, going back to Ohio and then coming back here to make herself look normal. Carson, accordingly, had no idea about the threats. I don't believe that whatsoever.

Of course, because of Roman's title and my history with Carson, this entire thing got on the news and Eldon told us to expect a lot of attention for a little bit.

Speaking of Roman, his eyes have been set on the road this entire car ride. His jaw is held tightly which I can practically hear and his hand is gripping the steering wheel, his knuckles pale from the sealed grasp. His veins are popping out of his arm and hand, making me feel some type of way but I'm guessing he's angry at me so this really isn't the time. Although, I don't know if he's actually angry since his other hand hasn't let mine go, his thumb rubbing circles repeatedly.

I would understand if he was angry. Furious, actually. But is he? Should I say something? Would it just be silence if I did?

We arrive at the house.

Roman gets out from his side, and while I'm grabbing the medical bag the paramedic gave me from beneath my feet, my side of the door is opened.

He's opening the door for me? So he's not mad? I'm confused.

I get out, his hand simultaneously interlocking with mine before we walk inside and see everyone huddled up in the living room.

"You're okay!" Rider runs over first, his tall body colliding into me like a bulldozer before he picks me up and spins me around like a madman.

Roman lets go of my hand so I can hug him back, my body feeling relief now that I'm back with the people I love. He puts me down and everyone goes next, telling me that they're glad I'm okay which I'm more than grateful for.

Ivy gasps. "Now you can go to the shooting range with me!"

She looks over at Roman and sees the deathly glare being sent toward her immediately.

"I mean, now you can finally rest." She puts her hand on my shoulder with a sympathetic smile.

I return a small laugh. "Yeah, I'm never going near a gun again."

"So it was Carson's mom the entire time?" Bethane says, shocked.

I nod with my lips in a thin line.

"Maybe we should all plan a murder against his entire fucking lineage," Sanchez suggests.

Everyone nods instantly to that in agreement.

After explaining to them everything that happened besides what was about to happen, as well as what Ms.Walker was threatening Roman with, everyone goes to sleep since they've all been up the entire night. They ask me about a thousand times if I need anything and at one point, I think they realize that I actually am okay, and honestly, I really am. I'm definitely in shock and a little shaken up, but it's over and that's all I want. For this to all be over.
