Alaiya's POV:

"Okay, do you have your chargers with you?" I confirm as Roman has his bag in his hand.

"No, I was just going to use a fucking telegraph the entire time."

I'm going to kill him. I mean, I would, but that's a felony so I just pinch his arm. He leans down and kisses me as an apology for his sarcasm, so I forgive him, I guess.

"Drive safe, and text me when you land," I demand.

"No!" We hear Rider whine as Bethane is seen literally dragging him to the door with her regular 'I hate everything' expression. I think that face runs in the Blackwood family.

"Rider, you're going to see me in three days," she reminds him.

"That's more than twenty-four hours. Who the hell is gonna defend me from Hulk?" He points towards Roman.

"How about you don't grab onto me each time the plane turns and I won't hit you at all?" Roman suggests.

"See, look how big of a bitch he is. What if Alaiya grabbed onto you if she was scared on a plane?"

"You're comparing Alaiya to your scared ass that screams just because the plane lowers for a second?"

"You love me." Rider brushes him off. "You obviously don't." He turns his attention back to Bethane who rolls her eyes at him.

"Text me when you land." She kisses him, and I think he physically deflates, the frustration towards her for wanting him to be on time now gone.

I think the kiss lasts for longer than two seconds and Roman's already cringing.

"I'll be in the car." Roman grabs his bag, kissing my head one last time before walking out. "I love you."

"I love you too," I respond.

"Okay, that worked." Rider pulls away from Bethane and both of them walk up to me. "So remember, the decorations are in the basement and we'll be back at six."

Roman said he didn't mind if Rider threw him a surprise party which is why I didn't call it off. Although, I can't tell Rider that I spoiled it because then I would have to explain the reason, so I've told Roman that he has to act surprised. And what I mean by that is Roman surprised. Maybe he can throw in a smile.

Also, even if I hadn't told Roman about the surprise party, there is no way that Rider would've kept it a secret. He'd be a giggling mess the entire time and at one point, the pieces would've been put together.

I nod toward Rider's instructions before he leaves.

Putting all three kids to sleep might be one of the hardest things known to man, especially on one of their cranky, 'I don't want to go to sleep' nights.

First, I put Autumn to bed who wants a bedtime story. Then, I go to Dayton who apparently has to tell me a story in his own language for a good thirty minutes. Aubrey decides that she needs a diaper change, along with a bath and her bottle right as Dayton falls asleep. And to top it all off, Aubrey threw up her milk on her sheets so now I have to get a new pair and change those, meaning that I have to put her to sleep all over again.

If Roman were here, then I would've gotten out of throw-up duty and he could've dealt with it. What else are husbands for?

Rider and he come back tomorrow. The rest of the two days passed by very slowly. Like they actually wouldn't move. It's like being in math class in school and watching the clock every second go slower and slower. Of course, our friends made it go much faster than it usually does if I were alone. We talked a bunch, played some games with the kids, and made and ate meals together.
